I am tired of sorting out my own refuse while paying the municipality for a service I don’t get. Simply put, the consumer protection act states that you cannot charge for a service that you didn’t render. Problem is if I don’t pay for the refuse, the municipality will cut my electricity (which also isn’t fair as short payment should be allocated to non service delivery). I am therefore forced to pay for something I don’t get!

I am a resident of Primrose, Germiston in Ekurhuleni for 20 years and am fed up with Non removal of waste in our Wheelie bins. We as residents in our area have not had them cleared for two weeks and this is not the first time. I will not be paying for my charge of my bins fees on my Ekurhuleni account until this matter is sorted out. All parties involved in the running of Ekurhuleni need to wake up and pay attention. Residents are fed up and refuse to pay for services not rendered.

Service delivery is so poor in Primrose, potholes in our streets, rubbish not being collected for weeks, prostitution on the rise because Municipality doesnt vet people they sell houses to, in collaboration with estate agents. Street light not working at night. No Police patrols, once in a blue moon will u see a Police van patrolling.

We are sick of all the excuses we have received why rubbish is not collected.... from the vehicle’s are not licensed to they are broken!!!!! In the meantime rubbish is everywhere, stinking, rotting and being picked apart by people looking for who knows what. We are honest citizens who have paid our rates and taxes every month for over 45 years.
All we ask the municipality to do is what they are supposed to and elected to do and that is their job.
I request that you either get this matter sorted out within 30 days or you drop the cost of refuse removal and allow private contractors to handle the removal of refuse.
You must also provide suitable land and facilities for the refuse to be dumped or incinerated.
This is becoming a health issue which you can not ignore.
Please take this matter seriously or prepare for the consequences. Politically you are on shaky ground as it is, but to ignore the public’s request will be at your detriment.
