DC Section 8 Landlords Request Written Policy
Are you aware that there is not a written guide for Landlords who are participating, or would like to participate, in the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) and because of this, novice and experienced Landlords alike, are losing thousands and even tens of thousands of dollars while receiving verbal interpretations of HUD Regulations or another policy from DC Housing Authority HCVP staff members at the time of loss?
About 4 years ago the Director told a room full of Landlords at the DC Housing Providers Association (HPA) Meeting that there would be something in writing that will enable Landlords to navigate and experience success and less stress as Housing Choice Voucher Program Landlords. The Administrative Plan was introduced years ago, but that is not the answer because it does not deal with any steps, processes or the daily ins and outs of any department at DCHA HCVP.
We the undersigned respectfully request that the 1st draft of this document is completed by November 1, 2014 and the final draft by January 1, 2015. In addition, a delegation sent from amongst the Landlord Unity Movement (LUM) Members are to be present to assist and/or advise during the process.
In these austere times, LUM Members cannot continue to standby. Since we're partners with DCHA HCVP, then let's partner and create a win-win for both sides.
