We do not have any competition, competition is good for any economy.
Guest#27 Feb 08, 2012, 22:18
We are paying the price of arogant people in high places who claim imunity from prosicution due to there position. may the death of the firemen haunt them for ever.
Guest#28 Feb 09, 2012, 08:03
Why should the people of Cyprus pay for the mistakes of the electricity authority?
Guest#29 Feb 09, 2012, 08:47
Another government cock up that the tax payers are expected to pay for. I thought a communist government was supposed to be for the people???? We should all take a stance and tell them to stick their inflated bills until something is done about reducing this extortion or the country comes to a complete stand still.
Guest#30 Feb 09, 2012, 10:34
Not sure how we will break the monopoly but why should we pay for governments mistakes
Guest#31 Feb 09, 2012, 12:26
EAC want a big shake-up, the highest prices for electric in Europe, disgusting.
Guest#32 Feb 09, 2012, 14:12
Its not just electric, they have just put up the N.I Contributions from next quarter by no less that 10%, what country in the world would hike up you N.I payment by 10% in one fell swoop, the goverment have gone mad.
Guest#33 Feb 09, 2012, 19:31
These charges are absolutely ridiculous and need to be investigated.
Guest#34 Feb 09, 2012, 23:21
We, as customers of EAC, should not be liable to the increase in electricity costs following the tragic incident at the Moni Electricity Plant. Electricity prices are already high, resulting in customers not wanting to switch on essentials such as heating and lights. Without piped gas to houses, we are tied to electricity as a provider for heating in our homes - we need to be able to afford to run the heating.
Guest#35 Feb 09, 2012, 23:43
Why pay for this incompetence of others.
Guest#36 Feb 10, 2012, 08:02
Why should the customer be ripped off to pay the gross incompetence of this moronic "government"?
Guest#37 Feb 10, 2012, 08:05
Why should the customer be ripped off due to the gross incompetence of this moronic "government"?

I totally agree, electricity prices are always high in a monopoly situation.
Guest#39 Feb 10, 2012, 16:54
We now have the most expensive electricity in the EU. We NEED competition.
Guest#40 Feb 10, 2012, 20:29
The electricity in CYPRUS IS THE HIGHEST IN THE UE!
ANONYMOUS#41 Feb 10, 2012, 21:39

An easy solution

Shower when the sun is out, reduce consumption, wear a jumper indoors, TURN the DAMN thing OFF.....
Guest#42 Feb 10, 2012, 22:37
Time to end this monopoly
Guest#43 Feb 11, 2012, 09:44

Guest#44 Feb 11, 2012, 20:21
great idea.....something must be done...
Guest#45 Feb 11, 2012, 20:51
Good governance and a sustainable energy policy are the current corner stones requirtement for the successful development of Cyprus, not turning a blind eye to the current and future needs by using the EAC as a revenue/tax/fines collection entity.
Guest#46 Feb 12, 2012, 09:32
I totally agree that something must be done to control the price of electricity which is an essential commodity to all people living in Cyprus.
didi#47 Feb 12, 2012, 10:12
This country is a rip from start to finish.
Guest#48 Feb 12, 2012, 11:19
We also receive electricity bills in Hong Kong. The price we pay per kw/h in Cyprus is nearly TRIPLE what we pay in Hong Kong. Also a generous Hong Kong Government gives everyone a Euro 15 (equivalent) subsidy per month; even without this, our Cyprus bills are more than 2 1/2 times as high. Outrageous!
Guest#49 Feb 12, 2012, 14:24
glad somebody can do something about this electric company
Guest#50 Feb 13, 2012, 15:57
strongly agree with this. The bils have gone up exponentially and they dont seem to stop. We are working just to pay for the electricity.
