NZTA should reduce the speed limit form 70k to 50k in the residential area of SH2 - Main North Road, Bay View

We are asking NZTA (Waka Kotahi) for the reduction of the speed limit to 50k for 3.2k of SH2 from the start of the residential area south to Franklin Road North in Bay View.

This is a heavily populated residential area with a continuous flow of traffic, hundreds of vehicles daily travelling north and south from Napier - Taupo Road and Wairoa - Gisborne Road, logging trucks travelling from forests to Whirinaki Mill to Napier Port, then you have the residents trying to get in and out of driveways and roads that lead onto the Main North Road, as well as customers trying to get in and out of fuel stations. But that is not all, our major concern is the hundreds of school children catching buses and crossing the roads and also having to cross the road to participate in sport at the Petane Domain. 

Tell us what other heavily populated residential area has 70k driving through it with all the heavy traffic on it.
