Why should we, the consumers - Cypriot and foreign - be penalised for negligence which must lie at the feet of the president. The buck stops with him and he's getting enough of the smooth, now he should be prepared to take the rough.

Not only is the price of our electricity far too high, they charge us 15%VAT. Even in England VAT on GAS and ELECTRICITY is only 8%.

There are health indications for many people especially elderly frail and those on fixed pensions

I can only say that the price of electricity in Cyprus is now very expensive and I think unnecessarily so.

The ones responsible must pay the extra costs.
This was NOT a natural disaster.

The increase of the rate of current is going to be lethal to the poor families

Only in Cyprus...! Cypriot Government: half an island, no control!
Guest#60 Feb 19, 2012, 11:37
come on those of us who live in cyprus pull your finger out and get signing

I think it is Robbery what they are doing to everyone and they should be taken to The European Courts about it. How can they justify charging people so much when it is the Government who caused the problem in the first place. We should all get out on the streets and let this Government know that we have had enough and will not let them do to us what the Greek Government has done to them! Cyprus belongs to it's citizens and not to the Government and it's workers. They work for us!
Also did you know about their fancy new building in Paphos which is costing 18 Million Euros (cost before alterations were made)?

Way overdue that something should be done about the exhorbitant electricity prices. It was the Governments fault that the explosion of the generators has hiked up the prices but why should we have to pay for their mistakes? Also something should be done about the high cost of telephone rental charges etc. here in Cyprus.

Not sure that much can be done about our current state of affairs as its too expensive and it will take too long for another company or companies to try set up an alternative to these idiots. By then we shall all have to choose between food or electricity. I would like to ask why nothing has been done regarding renewable energy. In countries like Germany where they have 100 days of sunlight a year, a significant chunk of their power is solar, while we have 350 days of sun a year and the broad based implementation of these technologies is still years away. But the answer is simple... En 8a mporoun na ta fasein kapioi an exoume energia pou ton ilio.

I agree that the electricity prices in Cyprus are extortionate and I hope that everyone who sees this petition signs it and then hopefully something will be done!

Not our fault

my favorate one was getting cut off because we didnt pay the bill in time, well it would have helpped if they had sent us one in the first place.
but i totally agree with this petition the prices are way to high. you would think with the amount of sun we get they would try to harnes it in some way to help the price of electricity but then again that would mean helping the general population.
