How many Walmarts does a city the size of Rock Hill need, anyway? Ebinport and Celanese is a terrible location for a Walmart. They will destroy a beautiful piece of land for a store that is not needed and close to an already existing Walmart Superstore. The one planned for 901, I can see. The one planned for Cherry Rd., maybe. Celanese and Ebinport? Absolutely not!

We don't need any more commercial development now on Cel Road - we have plenty of grocery stores, drug stores, gas stations. Maybe if Walmart could figure out how to get people through the check out lines more people would shop at all the existing Walmart stores in York County.
Guest#54 Jan 07, 2014, 05:54
there is already a walmart approved 2 miles up the road on Cherry Rd and there is also a full size walmart 2.5 miles down the road. Why do we need another walmart when they cant even properly staff the stores they have now???
Guest#55 Jan 07, 2014, 06:00
Celenase is already way to congested. Ebinport Road can not support any more traffic. it is to narrow and to rough from pot holes and uncomplete construction projects.
Guest#56 Jan 07, 2014, 06:08
I live on Ebinport Road and already can not get out of my driveway easily and safe due to there being a new development that is still in the process of being built that creates a perfect 4 way intersection with my driveway along with not being able to see the traffic coming over the hill on Ebinport Rd and all the cut through traffic from Cherry Rd, India Hook, and Celenase Rd. We do NOT need anymore traffic flying down Ebinport Rd. we also dont need walmart that close to the existing walmart in Newport and the other approved Walmart on Cherry Rd.

zoning laws are in place to protect the community. Let the zoning laws protect us.

Rock Hill does not need another Walmart; there is one at Newport which is close enough to this proposed location. Traffic is already bad enough plus there is already a Harris Tetter and Food Lion very close to this location. No reason for another grocery store. Rock Hill does not need to become the Walmart Capital for SC; five in one city is too many!

Why must the residential areas be destroyed? Rock Hill does not need this Walmart....there is one a few miles down the road! Grocery Stores and Drugs Stores are aleady available in this location! If this rezoning is approved then greed is prevailing versus considering what citizens really need. Walmart parking lots are trashy and no effort is made to keep them clean. The stores are not maintained and sometimes deserted for another location. Then an empty store is left for neighbors to view. This rezoning request needs to be denied since there is no economic reason or need for it to be approved.

We don't need any more Walmarts! Too close to neighborhood. Also not happy with the idea that part of Ebinport Road will be closed; will cause more traffic issues on Celanese and India Hook Road.

do not rezone this area for a wal*mart. there are two walmarts in rock hill already and we don't need another. it's a short drive to either of them, this is just asking for more traffic than we already have. also, please consider the fact that you're going to be shutting down local business in the area. please look at the mall that the walmart on dave lyle attached itself to. the mall has done nothing but go downhill.
walmart is a business designed to sap local businesses. they have the lowest prices. they force sellers to sell to them at the absolute lowest price possible, how would anyone be able to compete? this is bad for rock hill and bad for the businesses of rock hill.

What a horrible location for this center. There is too much similar in the immediate area and the traffic congestion is already at a maximum. There are no sidewalks on Celeanse. This is about greed, not the community.

We have a svc station on the corner of India Hook and 161 and a grocery store, Harris Teeter almost directly across street from proposed Walmart site.
Our property values will decrease and the increased noise and traffic and "flak" we don't need.

BOYCOTT#65 Jan 08, 2014, 20:00
BOYCOTT Walmart
People need to boycott Walmart.
If there aren't any customers then they will not build more unnecessary stores.

Citizens Matter#66 Jan 08, 2014, 20:18
Consider Citizens First
Rock Hill City Council - we do not need to slum down our city with more Walmarts.
Does a city of 68,000 +/- residents really need 3 Walmart Supercenters, Sam's club, and 3 Walmart grocery stores w/ gas stations?
NO, we don't.

Rock Hill Community
Only a few gain by this venture. We, the citizens of Rock Hill gain nothing - we LOSE.
The majority of those gaining (which is a small amount) are out-of-town-ers. They don't care about our city, our community, or us - the people.

This area of town does not need another strip mall. The main thoroughfare road does not need nor can it support the additional traffic this strip mall will generate.

We don't need another Walmart in this area, we already have one not too far down the road in York. Also, many, many people use the cut off at
Ebinport. Harris Teeter is right there to use. We do not need that many
Walmart's!!!!!

We will fight a Wal-Mart going up in this location, and we will fight against it as hard as possible. There is NO need for Wal-Mart. 2 Food lions, a Harris Teeter, Newport Wal-Mart, and Earthfare are all in a 5 mile radius of that location already, soon to be another Wal-Mart on Cherry Road too (hopefully not), Do NOT, again DO NOT put a Wal-Mart here. The last thing we need is another Wal-Mart with workers who will protest wages and benefits. Enough with the Monopoly already.

Walmart will bring CRIME - no annexing - no rezoning!!!!!!
Having Walmart so close to Swan Meadows will bring CRIME to this and other surrounding peaceful neighborhoods. THIS IS NO PLACE FOR ANOTHER WALMART!!!! How easy can you make it for criminals to break-in and leave the neighborhoods by disappearing, and melding into the crowded parking lot of WALMART! Are you people out of your greedy minds? We don't need another Walmart! We already have TWO that are close by. Why do you greedy people want to systematically destroy the peaceful enjoyment of property owners. This is disgraceful that you have no respect for homeowners and their residences. Residents moved to this area because it is residential - NOT COMMERCIAL. We have enough already! This Walmart invasion is causing me to stop shopping there. How dare you! I'll bet you decision makers/planners don't have Walmart in your back yard. If you did, you would move. You would most certainly vote against this invasion of Walmart, and rezoning. Keep them out of residential neighborhoods - NO ONE wants this except greedy planners who are not victimized by this invasion. Try to respect your tax-paying citizens by allowing residents to live in a safe and peaceful environment - it's a property right! Go find an empty field to put another Walmart - residents of this area don't want it! Have some respect, for God's sake!

We need this walmart! Need the quick availability of stopping in for a few items since this will be only a grocery store and not a big walmart.

Thankful that Walmart is going in here. The property is already zoned for other businesses such as club pole dancers. Much rather have a grocery store than an all night party or dance club. Talk about crime and all night noise!
