I was recently release back to society when my brother told of the 2 new Pittbulls he has i was worry about the dogs reaction to me being away but when i met them they where the happiest dogs and friendly so this ban in Holton Ks is outrages because its the owners not the dogs so i ask pls reconsider the law which has been in the books since 85 its 2014 people just give the dogs a chance thank you for those of you who have signed the petition i am tyler salazar i planned on moving back to Holton but if that law stay in effect i refuse to live here and support the community

I'm a 3rd year veterinary student originally from Hoyt, KS and the president of a therapy animal organization. In order to become certified our dogs have to pass an obedience test (AKC's CGC) and thorough behavior evaluation by veterinarians at the vet school trained in evaluating therapy animals. We visit locals hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and just recently started going to the women and children's hospital. The most represented breed in our organization? You got it, the "vicious" pit bull.

Pitt Bulls Are Great Dogs That are Just Like Any Other Dog. If You Train Them Right And Keep Them Happy Then They Won't Hurt A Fly. I'm Just About To Get One Because They Are Loving Dogs And Have Such A Bad Wrap So I Want To Show All The Doubters That They Are Great Dogs.

Pit bulls are not aggressive dogs, it's the owners who treat them to be aggressive. I think this petition to 'Ban' pit bulls is ridiculous because they are one of the most protective dogs. And the fact that they are trying to ban them pisses me off because my husband and I along with a friend of ours just got turned in for owning 'Aggressive Pit bulls' and our dogs are Black Lab/ Weimaraner mix, and due to one of the dogs being Black and White they have to question whether or not it is a pit, I'm sorry Pits are not the only dogs with coloring like the dog we have that is in question. It's fricking stupid that my friend who owns this dog has to provide proof that her dog isn't a pit or the dog gets seized and put down. Who in their right mind would look at a black lab mix dog and instantly assume it's an AGGRESSIVE Pit. Doesn't matter if the dog was a Pit, it's freaking stupid that this ban is going through.

Breed specific legislation does not protect the citizens in any town. Why just pitt bulls? These are not the only dogs that attack people. I've personally been bitten by a chihuahua, a lhasa apso, and a rat terrier. My husband was viciously attacked as a child by his friends black lab. Cocker spaniel's often suffer from a genetic disease known as rage symptom. And they're very likely to attack a family member. There are a lot of dangerous dogs in the world. They should not be defined by breed, but instead by their actions.
We wouldn't judge people in this manner so why is it still acceptable to judge animals in such a way? A dangerous dog ordinance would serve the community in a much better manner. And it would allow families to keep their beloved four legged children.
Even Topeka repealed their BSL. I hope Holton follows their example.

Pitbulls have been erased of the name of being vicious in and doesnt need to be in a kennel anymore and can be walked in public without a muzzel. Pitbulls are the most misunderstood dog that has been banned & killed just for being a pitbull chihuahuas bite more people more than pitbulls now a days most States in Kansas have reconized the fantastic this dog is, and everyone thought Kansas was a more resonable place for allowing pitbulls and not judge these animals but Holton Ks yet still needs to learn more about this dogs just because one dog was sent to sick,attack,or justtrained the wtwrong way by bad people doesnt mean all who are pitbulls bull dogs Américan pitts and Terryor pitts shouldnt have to pay for the fault on one. BSL is wrong. No different than racial discrimination or racial profiling. We had the BSL laws overturned in Overland, MO about 3 years ago. Our community has a perfect law on the books prohibiting "dangerous" dogs, ie dogs that have bitten people or attacked other animals. You can view this information at the city's web site. Also, just for the record, it is not the animals we have to fear, it is the humans! People need to be responsible owners of ALL breeds. Abuse of any dog is unlawful and the laws need to be enforced to the fullest extent. BSL promotes taking wonderful dogs from wonderful, responsible owners, tearing animals and families apart. WE MUST STOP BSL!!!

i have a pitbull that is a service dog for me and I would be devastated without her. She acts a lot better than most kids I see in the stores that are out of control. She doesn't bark, bite, or run after other animals. BSL is just BS because someone put up a stink because they got pissed off by someone who has a pit. If you are banning these animals for POSSIBILITY that they can do harm, you better ban cats as they can carry CAT SCRATCH FEVER, which my children did get from a cat, but have never been bitten by any dogs. IF something ever does happen with a pit, THEN do something about it, but until then leave us alone.

THESE LAWS HAVE GOT TO CHANGE! This is not right to have to give up one of ur kids cause the public don't like them.
