Make sheppey bridge safe to cross

I have to cross this bridge twice a day to take and collect my 10year old daughter to school. The speed some drivers go is ridiculous and dangerous especially in poor weather conditions. What would I do if I broke down on the bridge with no phone signal?? This should be something for the powers a be to think about?

The bridge definitely needs a lower speed limit and cameras.

I agree with making the bridge safer might actually take kids to laysdown then as wont take them over the bridge atm

What does it take to make this crossing safer how many more lives have to be taken too soon, my son,sister nephew and brother in law had a crash on top of bridge 2010 but were the fortunate ones, please lets have no more lives lost.

The crossings is dangerous, most time it's closed due to the weather.
Should have been bulit under water, what a waste of money, no lights, no hard shoulder for safety.

Bridge needs to be safe to prevent anymore lives to be lost! The tragic news of people dieing on the bridge and effects me more as I heard the crash and the thought someone had died is shocking that anyone could die on that bridge! Needs to be sorted and safe for everybody.

The Bridge has to have a speed limit with speed camera's, But the ROADS on the whole of the Island need to be reviewed the amount of speeding on our very narrow roads is getting worse along with the amount of people using their mobile phone's, the population of the Island has gone up so much over the year's that the roads cannot deal with the amount of traffic using it.
We need more speed camera's on various hotspots on the Island.

I definatly think this bridge needs lights I hate going over it at night but also needs camers to catch all of those silly stupid people that are on there mobile phones, Mobiles should be bannned in cars unless hand free oh my god what the hell did people do when mobiles were not around just saying how this accident was caused we do not no but for gods sake sort this bloody bridge out.

Such a tragic accident that happened yesterday. It weren't the first accident to happen on this bridge and unless something changes it probably won't be the last. Our thoughts are with the family xxx

The terrible accident yesterday need not have happened what do we need to say the bridge is needed but must be made SAFE.Speed restrictions need to be in place even cameras anyone caught speeding should be fined heavily we must stop this sort of things happening again.

I believe that one of the problems with this bridge is that the side walls need to be a little higher because its very easy to become distracted by the surrounding scenery...especially on a sunny day, and perhaps if the walls were higher it would help to keep ones eyes focused on the road ahead,just my opinion. Very sad about such a tragic loss of life.

Cameras won't make it safe!!

Here we go again thinking cameras will solve verything, all that will happen is people will be watching for the cameras instead of other road users!! It's funny I've managed to cross that bridge a hundred times and I've not managed to kill myself yet...

Agree that lights and a hard shoulder wouldn't go a miss, but speed cameras!! Just another tax generator and way to cause more accidents, speed doesn't kill, stupid unattentive arse drivers do!!

This bridge is so dangerous; someone I know who broke down on it luckily had the Police drive by; they put cones out and told him that people should telephone them if they break down as it is unsafe! The A249 from Sheppey to Stockbury roundabout is a hotspot for accidents - please do something about it!

This bridge had been a concern ever since it was built. It needs a speed limit under 50mph and the opportunity to get away from traffic should you break down. Too many people have already suffered. Please make it safer. Perhaps of people thought and drove with others in mind, that would also contribute to more safety.
