No one had the right to remove Elvis Presley's name off the plaque. He took his time, after just coming back to the United States to go to Hawaii and perform, without pay, to help build the USS Arizona Memorial. He never asked for anything. He gave himself for charities, not just that once but on a regular basis including the Aloha From Hawaii worldwide special a few years later. All the money raised from that concert also went to a Hawaiian charity. He even paid for his own ticket to that show. He gave and gave of himself; his estate continues to do the same. How dare anyone besmirch his memory by saying his name should be removed because he was addicted to prescription drugs. I suggest before any more negativity be said, that people read the full report after the autopsy to understand how truly ill he was. He wasn't addicted to drugs for pleasure; but to simply be able to function and continue to work to pay for everything he and his family and friends and girlfriend needed. He died simply because he was so totally exhausted. His body gave out.

To give back what Elvis Presley deserves.

I sign that petition, because of Elvis. He had a right to see his name over there, because of the USS Alabama Benefit Concert he did in 1961. TCB ;-)

It is not right to remove Elvis because he had a "drug" problem. There is no perfect person, so lets not look at the wrong he did but the right. For example, he broke down the walls of racism musically and integrated the air waves.

Please put him back.

If we are not careful we will eventually be ruled by the PC brigade - that is simply not democratic because they are such a small group and will not stand up and be named. Anyone making a valid objection to anything must have the courage of their convictions and identify themselves. The reason given for removing Elvis's name is derisory to say the least and it should never have been allowed to happen. I am not a member of the Elvis fan-club or any association such as that.

I want to help to Reinstate Elvis' name where it should be, namely on the USS Arizona. And I just cannot understand why they removed it in the first place! He gave a huge amount of money so it could be possible to build this memory place to come to. I've been there once myself. Elvis held this concert and even payed for his own ticket. He was a kind and giving person...and nobody, no nobody is perfect...."and who are you"!!!

Reinstate Elvis or remove the government

If Elvis' name was removed from the memorial because of alleged misuse of medication, then all referrals to the government and army should be removed from it as well, because, be fair: how clean are they?!

I signed the petition because Elvis made a special concert in 1961 just for collecting money to restore the "USS Arizona" and I do not understand at all why tha plaque was removed!!! That is a shame!

I know Elvis put on a concert to raise money to finish this memorial and without his assistance who knows whether or not it would have been finished. His contribution should be acknowledged for future generations to know what he did.

Elvis did help to raise money for the USS Arizona Memorial because he was an true patriot and therefore is to reinstate his legendary name so inportant.
