Riding is a big part of my life and could never imagine what i would feel if it had to be taken away from me. So I signed this petition as i know there are many kids and teens and adults that feel the exact same and i would do anything to help them save their passion

This is so wrong. No thought has been given into this at all. No Consideration to the jobs that will be lost, the horse's that will put down, relocating costs. It is not possible to move an entire yard in 1 month. Equestrian sport is an internationally recognised sport and deserves as much respect as any other sport.

Yes I did sign the petition

Because due process is important in a democracy and because my child goes to horse riding at those stables. We do not want any more football pitches. Other sports are important too!

to save the stables as it's offers something to the people of Durban that can't travel out of town who love horses and riding. also it's home to the metro police horses who man the durban beach front.

Because I agree wholeheartedly....This is a wonderful place which gives so much to horses and children and it annoys me that anything that helps the children and animals is always the first to go. This is so unjust and I hope that this petition helps to keep this important venue going for everyone's sakes.

Because I believe what Nadine Parker is doing for the sport is brilliant. It's central and could be developed further for the sport to grow bigger in all disciplines. It's a little piece of heaven for many kids and and adults.

Because there are enough places for soccer to be played at other grounds like schools and clubs but there is only one place for the horses and riders and children to learn. Also to save the jobs of the loyal stable staff.

With more participation from the community, I am hoping something can be done for the horses. Just the other day the crusaders club was taken for the same reason.

I am a rider myself and dont want to see any horses homelessy

I learnt how to ride at Newmarket in 1973, and stabled 2 horses there until 1975.
I returned with a horse in 2005/6.
It's a wonderful place full of history and a great alternative to being a mall rat.
It's a sanctuary.

I signed this because when I was younger there was lots to do and see In Durban, the snake park the animal farm , water world , the awesome flea markets to name a few even the bird park went for a while. Now they want to take away the stables and the flea market. What is there really that's reasonable for families to do.....?
Guest#63 Jul 22, 2015, 18:16
I signed because I'm so tired of seeing greed, nepotism and downright stupidity, doing as it pleases! There's enough for everyone's need, not everyone's greed :(

I grew up at Newmarket stables. Best childhood years!!
Guest#65 Jul 22, 2015, 18:20
The area forms a green lung. A multi purpose sports venue should be able to accommodate the stables. Think of the colour horses introduce into London, or New York. It is possible to have stables in the city, making horse ps more widely accessible.

The needs of the community have mot been regarded. Horses can offer therapeutic care. There is no other land available for a soccer facility
Guest#67 Jul 22, 2015, 18:31
To save the heritage, horses & employees livelehood, The soccer can be relocated to any number of vacant lands available in Durban
Guest#68 Jul 22, 2015, 18:32
I signed this petition, because I'm sick of all the landmarks being demolished by greed. My friend owned The Snake park and they did the same thing to him. We couldn't get enough support and it was demolished. They put a parking lot there and it has caused major problems.
Guest#69 Jul 22, 2015, 18:33
The community has not been consulted. There is plenty other land for a soccer facility.
Guest#70 Jul 22, 2015, 18:46
This is a stupid situation. Just like the ski boat club saga. Municipality flexing its muscles using "our" money and giving nothing in return. The stables are helping many people from workers to disabled persons. Leave them alone and go find land somewhere else
Guest#71 Jul 22, 2015, 18:52
These stables need to be saved if it wasn't for the convenience of these stables I wouldn't have been able to ride ever day on my way home from school I just hoped of the bus. They were a huge part of my childhood and many other children. It had a fantastic riding school and was an amazing opportunity for disabled children to learn to ride I taught there for numerous years.

To save ,jobs, support inner city sporting oppurtunities and ensure history is preserved
Guest#73 Jul 22, 2015, 19:22
With so much unemployment in the country why are they shutting down a 100 or more self sustained entrepreneurs????? Doesnt make any bloody sense to me!!!!
Guest#74 Jul 22, 2015, 19:26
The stables and lifestyle market complement the city - stop removing everything beautiful - like the waterfront which was also removed. What is wrong with you?
Guest#75 Jul 22, 2015, 20:00
I signed this because of my girlfriend and how upset she is she has just started horse riding and I always want to go and see her ride
