Nothing wrong with the signs. Edinburgh is a cosmopolitan city, with a much better welcoming look than other cities in the UK. Let's embrace the diversity that Pomegranate brings to the Burgh and scrutinise this form of prejudice and hypocrisy. They are just honest people providing for their families, employees and community.

Let's kick racism off Leith Walk
Guest#81 Oct 13, 2013, 04:43
A fabulous restaurant , great staff . This shouldn't be happening as there is nothing wrong with their lighting or signage I would say it is all racist
Guest#82 Oct 13, 2013, 05:13
Edinburgh needs more restaurants like this,
Guest#83 Oct 13, 2013, 05:18

The UK is regarded as a multicultural society, instances such as this however do more harm in highlighting obvious racism therefore tarnishing its reputation. Every human being has a right to work and provide for their families and their staff's families, this vital human right is being denied by this harrassment. The people who have instigagted this harrassment should be made an example of - therefore showing that England is a prime example of a believer in basic human rights instead of just standing by and allowing racism to exist. Good luck with your petition and i will DEFINITELY visit you guys when I am next over in the UK!!

Disgraceful to shut a good and interesting family restaurant down just because it has its signage written in the owner's language. I thought uk was supposed to be a friendly to all races, not ptomoting racialism.
Guest#85 Oct 13, 2013, 06:09
This is ridiculous - the signage isn't overt or any larger/ louder than the Italian that was there previously - that was always full of drunken loud hen party's!!
This sounds racially motivated to me.

Please sign this! And show that true Edinburgh folk will not allow a few to spoil our amazing multi cultural city.
Guest#87 Oct 13, 2013, 06:47
There isn't that much lighting than any other restaurant in the area.
Guest#88 Oct 13, 2013, 07:05
Absolute disgrace that some locals are so shallow to force this place to close
Guest#89 Oct 13, 2013, 07:13
Farcical situation to be in thanks to one petty moaner. Absolutely nothing offensive whatsoever about the signage of Pomegranate, in fact one of the most understated in the area.
Guest#90 Oct 13, 2013, 07:54
Good luck!

I travel all the way from Balloch to come here! It is disgusting how the narrow minds of some people can cause so much disruption to the lively hoods of others, especially those who provide excellent food, great service and an amazing atmosphere. The outside of the Pomegranate, to me, is beautiful and considering where it is (next to a busy road and near many other buildings with lit fronts) there is no need for anything to change. Keep up the good work, I look forward to revisiting your restaurant and seeing it as it should be. The same as always.

Keep fighting it

I love the signage and although I am not often down your side, I will certainly make a point of doing so soon.

It's disgusting that this wonderful restaurant is being singled out!
Guest#94 Oct 13, 2013, 08:07
This is a disgrace! There is no excuse for this other than blatant racism. This area has a multitude of colourful and varying shop fronts, so bigotry is the only answer here. Disgusting!
Guest#95 Oct 13, 2013, 08:09
Wonderful restaurant.
Guest#96 Oct 13, 2013, 08:15
oh how silly, there's nothing wrong with that, in fact it's quite attractive.
Guest#97 Oct 13, 2013, 08:28
This is a wonderful restaurant run by truly lovely people! How could face of it possibly cause any offense to anybody? This needs a proper explanation. Just look at what the Pomegranate means to all the members of public who truly value this place. Good Luck. I believe that all will be resolved for you.

Such an amazing restaurant, my friends and I have had so many good meals here and the staff are lovely. It would be a real loss if the signage being removed costs the owners their livelihood and the neighbourhood a lovely eatery :(
Guest#99 Oct 13, 2013, 08:32
It's shocking that this place might close down because of the narrow mindness of some daft racist!

Dull grey Edinburgh council - wake up and provide positive and creative input to Edinburgh!
When will the council become business savvy ?
Surely it's obvious that small and medium businesses provide the community with good services and also employ people - who in turn pay the council tax and elect councillors.
And those businesses need to be seen to get customers.
