Naming the Cressey Street Footbridge to Honour Eileen Jean Green
We wish to honour the memory of Eileen Jean Green by naming the footbridge in Cressey Sireet Wavell Heights after her. She first asked the council for a footbridge in the early 1970s and after initial rejection continued advocating to different councillors to finally have the council build a wooden bridge in 1973. This has since (in 2018) been upgraded with a steel and concete structure and is used by many local residents daily. Naming this footbridge the 'Eileen Jean Green Footbridge' would be a fitting tribute to a valuable Wavell Heights resident who contributed to the community for over 60 years before her death in 2016.1.jpg)
