Pedestrian crossing
PETITION FOR PEDESTRIAN CROSSING
We petition the Council of Barnsley to install a Pedestrian Crossing on High Street, Royston outside the Doctors surgery.
High Street is a very busy main road and bus route and is the main route to Meadstead Primary Academy. Cars parking outside the doctors surgery create a considerable hazard to pedestrians crossing the road, moreover, there is no signage to advise there is a school or any speed reduction along the road.
We demand that Barnsley Council fully fund the installation of a Pedestrian Crossing at this location. A Puffin Crossing would be ideally suited for this location as they activate the lights & stop traffic only when pedestrians need to cross thereby keeping the flow of traffic moving more freely. This would also benefit elderly and disabled people as they monitor the crossing and control the signals allowing enough time to cross.
