PETITION TO ADDRESS PROLONGED LACK OF ELECTRICITY IN THIRTY-SEVEN (37) TOWNS AND VILLAGES.

• PETITION TO THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF IJEBU NORTH EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT, OGUN STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND IBADAN ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANY (IBEDC) ON THE PROLONGED ELECTRICITY SUPPLY NEGLECT AFFECTING ABOUT 40 TOWNS AND VILLAGES 

We, the undersigned concerned citizens of ILUGUN-IJEBU in Ijebu North East Local Government, write to urgently draw the attention of the Executive Council of Ijebu North East Local Government, the Ogun State House of Assembly, the National Assembly, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to the decades-long and deeply troubling electricity crisis plaguing our region.

For over twenty years, our communities—comprising of about 40 towns and villages of ILUGUN-IJEBU in Ijebu North East Local Government —have been subjected to extreme neglect in terms of electricity supply leading to total economic collapse and massive migration of skilled workers and youths to neighboring towns with better power supply.
THE AVERAGE ANNUAL ELECTRICITY SUPPLY IS LESS THAN 20 HOURS. This shocking statistic is well known among residents and local authorities alike, yet the problem remains unaddressed.

 The socio-economic impact of this neglect cannot be overstated.

We therefore call on our Governments and concerned Stakeholders to:

1. Immediately prioritize the restoration and improvement of electricity supply across all affected communities.
2. Engage relevant state and federal agencies, as well as power distribution companies, to investigate and resolve this long-standing failure.
3. Create a sustainable local monitoring and feedback mechanism to ensure transparency and accountability in power supply improvement efforts.
