Petition to Kingston Council: Upgrades to Keeley Park East and Club Facilities
We, the undersigned members, supporters, and well-wishers of the local cricket community, respectfully submit this petition to Kingston Council to request vital upgrades and enhancements to Keeley Park East and our associated club facilities.
Our Requests:
1. Securing a Permanent Saturday Turf Ground for CUCCKINGS
For several years, CUCCKINGS has been actively seeking a permanent Saturday turf ground to accommodate both our junior and senior teams. Despite repeated efforts, we have been unable to secure a consistent venue for Saturday matches. A permanent Saturday turf ground is crucial for the continued development of our players, fostering club growth, and ensuring long-term stability for our programs. We respectfully request Kingston Council's immediate support to allocate a dedicated turf ground for our club’s Saturday competitions.
Similarly for Sunday Turf ground allocations, after a long ordeal , we secured half share of Namatjira last year. For past 5 years , we have been seeking assistance and everyyear we have been allocated different sunday turf venues which makes it hard for all members and as a club to logistically use the ground
2. Conversion of Keeley Park East to a Turf Ground
Keeley Park East currently lacks the infrastructure to support higher-level competitive cricket. Converting this space into a turf ground would not only benefit our existing club members but also provide opportunities for local talent to train and compete at a more advanced level. A turf ground would also help attract regional matches and community events, creating a hub for cricket in the Kingston area. We understand Keeley Park East and West Oval is due for Drainage works in the next few months keeping the grounds under maintenance . Can we utilise the same window and have East Oval converted to Turf and West Oval be Synthetic (as it will help Soccer club use the same West Oval during winters too )
3. Upgrading the Club Rooms, Dressing Rooms, Club Kitchen, and Other Facilities
Our facilities are currently outdated and do not meet the growing needs of our expanding club. Renovations are urgently needed to modernise the club rooms, improve safety and accessibility, and enhance the kitchen facilities to better serve players, families, and spectators during matches and events.
4. Ensuring Gender-Sensitive and Family-Friendly Amenities
As our club proudly includes male, female, and junior players, we urgently require updated change rooms, toilets, and washrooms that respect gender privacy and provide comfort and security for all players. Separate, well-maintained facilities are essential for fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for women, children, and families.
Why This Matters:
-
The cricket club is a vital community hub that promotes physical activity, inclusion, and social connection across generations.
-
Upgrading these facilities will support youth development, encourage female participation, and improve the overall community experience.
-
Enhanced infrastructure will enable the club to host larger community events, bringing more people together and supporting the local economy.
This petition is supported by active club members, past and present players, future athletes, parents, female players, and local residents who believe in the importance of investing in local sports and community wellbeing.
We respectfully urge the Kingston Council to consider this request and work collaboratively with us to ensure Keeley Park East and its club facilities reflect the spirit, diversity, and potential of our growing cricket community.
Together, let’s build a stronger future for local cricket.
