Auckland Transport is ruining Ponsonby Road.

We the undersigned, request that the consultation process currently underway by Auckland Transport - regarding Ponsonby Road be recalled, redesigned and delivered in a much more appropriate and statistically valid manner.

Local residents, business owners, families and visitors who enjoy both Ponsonby Road and the local community request that Auckland Transport (AT) ceases the "consultation process" currently underway.

The current "consultation" process is grossly inappropriate, rushed, difficult to respond to - and will not provide a quality range of valid feedback.

The  Auckland Transport Flyer - posted on 03 December 2020 with a demand that feedback is submitted online by 06 December 2020, (just four days) is far too hasty, provides inappropriate timelines and will not fairly represent the views of the majority.

The submission process is confusing and unnecessarily complex, and includes a phone number (09)3666400 for feedback that is not answered during the weekend (two of the four days available for responses) by skilled researchers.

The residents of St Heliers managed to stop AT and thereby ensure that the quality of life they enjoy was not destroyed by Auckland Transport - after AT proceeded with their own plans to “improve" (read "Ruin") West Lynn, Karangahape Road and Mt Albert.

We require that Auckland Transport engage more closely with the residents of Ponsonby, St Mary’s Bay, Freemans Bay, Herne Bay, Westmere and Grey Lynn and interested parties - through a series of publicly notified community meetings and meaningful research that ensures the views of ALL interested parties are requested, understood and accepted.

 Speed Calming measures are not needed in side roads, or at stop signs, no more unused cycleways on main thoroughfares are needed, no more "mini traffic islands" are warranted and more free parking is required for businesses to thrive so that the community can then enjoy Ponsonby Road and the rest of the local suburbs - without any further interference from Auckland Transport and Auckland Council.
