Prohibit Pesticides in Summer Camp Lakes!

In the New York State Legislature, there are Assembly and Senate bills (A441 and S1371 respectively) being considered which will prohibit the spraying of pesticides on specified land areas of summer camps. We totally support these bills; furthermore, we appreciate your consideration of an amendment regarding the inclusion of additional language in the bills which would prevent the camps from adding pesticides to lakes and other bodies of water in which minor campers swim. Daily repetitive immersion in such pesticides creates unreasonable risk to young immune systems. We are also concerned for the many camping/lake communites in New York State where summer camps are situated in close proximity to where other minor children swim.
