Reduce Heavy School Bags with Student Lockers at Hillgrove Secondary School

We, the students, parents, and supporters of Hillgrove Secondary School, respectfully appeal for the installation of student lockers within the school.

Many students carry heavy bags daily containing textbooks, laptops, PE attire, CCA items, and other materials. This places unnecessary physical strain on students and affects their comfort, wellbeing, and daily school experience.

We understand the school has previously cited concerns regarding limited space, low survey participation, and locker rental costs. However, we believe there are practical solutions worth reconsidering, such as:

• Pilot locker programmes for selected levels
• Shared or compact locker systems
• Optional rental schemes
• Priority allocation for students with heavier academic or CCA loads

Many schools have successfully implemented locker systems to better support student welfare and learning environments. We hope Hillgrove Secondary School can similarly explore feasible options that meet the needs of today’s students.

This petition is not intended as criticism, but as a constructive request for renewed discussion and consideration. We respectfully urge the school and relevant authorities to revisit the possibility of installing student lockers for the benefit of students’ wellbeing and daily learning experience.
