I am fed up, we pay sky high rates and taxes which should be getting used to maintain infrastructure, yet every week we are without power for sometimes 20 or more hours. It then costs additional money to run a generator, money we just don't have. To compound the issue further these constant power outages have caused damaged to our DB board. Is Ekhurhuleni going to pay for that? Then there is an even more pressing issue for us, when the power goes out, we cannot go out and get something to eat, like most families can. Our daughter is a type 1 diabetic and is on a very strict eating plan, from how the food is prepared to what she is allowed to eat, which is not catered for when we go out. She cannot skip meals as it could result in her landing up in a coma, there is also the issue that we have to keep her insulin refrigerated, this proves difficult when we keep on sitting with no power. It is our right to have constant power, we pay for it after all, but ekhurhuleni is very quick to switch people off when they don't pay, if only that sense of urgency was applied to resolving these power issues and upgrading of equipment to ensure no disruptions. Where is our money going to? There should be a forensic audit done on Ekhurhuleni's financial and prove to the rate payers that our money is not being squandered on unnecessary spenditure because it is blatantly obvious that the money is not being used for what it is actually meant for, but we keep on being lied to. Enough is enough

As a resident of Alberton, I think it is ridiculous that we have to pay the consequences for poor management of maintenance from Ekurhuleni. We pay our rates and taxes, so why should we have to be punished for their incompetence.......

Fed up with the outages of electricity, The state of Alberton it is a dump. It's embarrassing to drive / walk through Voortrekker st, Alberton Boulevard never mind walking past the "Bus terminal " which is a total disgrace. Hard to imagine how clean and whole it once was.Date2021-06-25
