Buhl, Idaho Trailer Ordinance Update

Comments

I’m signing because I am an independent plumbing contractor serving Buhl. Many homes here are over 100 years old with no driveway or off-street parking. This ordinance effectively prohibits me from serving my customers — and even from parking at my own home.

People can not do business and enjoy where they live or even allowing someone to have their rv outside to pack and get ready.

Bethanie Cooke (Buhl, 2025-08-17)

I’m a local contractor that works in the buhl area. I’m friends with other contractors that live in Buhl as well. Quit trying to turn Idaho into California.

I have family who lives in Buhl and operates businesses out of. These new ordinances directly affect the livelihood of people I care about.

Sarah Davila (Twin falls, 2025-08-17)

I occasionally bring home a trash trailer or cargo trailer at the end of the day rather than take the trailer to twin and drop it off also due to limited parking for my rv and the shuttle of vehicles and trailers to grt them all parked back to the side of the house i have to park my rv on the street while i make this happen. Some times we get home late on sunday and dont have time to do it all sunday night so sometbing has to sit on the street till the following evening

Doug Howarth (Buhl, 2025-08-17)

As someone who does business in Buhl and the surrounding area, this would directly affect me as we often have to pull a trailer and since we are from our of town, we don't have the luxury of having a driveway or elsewhere to park when we are visiting

Aliesha Dean (Idaho Falls, 2025-08-17)

#13

I do not believe the current ordinance is fair, or uses common sense.

Rochelle Younger (Buhl, 2025-08-17)

#16

We had a police officer show up at 7am Easter morning and knock on our door to move our trailer that had been parked outside our home after not getting home until midnight. I do not know how to back or pull a trailer.

Chelsey Bartlett (Buhl, 2025-08-17)

#17

There needs to be allowances for workers in our town to be able to operate out of trailers parked on the street.

Tiffany Greager (Buhl, 2025-08-17)

#19

Current restrictions are out of date. And enforcement is causing an unnecessary burden on homeowners and contractors. I believe this petition will address the need for change.

Robert Price (Buhl, 2025-08-17)

#20

I believe as our community expands the ordinances should be re-evaluated to reflect the growth and services our community is trying to offer. We want businesses here in our town. We do t want to continually see business’s leave or worse even service residents in the area.

Michele Warnecke (Buhl, 2025-08-17)

#27

I’m signing because enforcement of the current law seems arbitrary and overbearing considering the make-up of our small, working class, rural community.

Mark Dowding (Buhl, 2025-08-17)

#28

I have mowing business and would like to be able to load my R. V the night before traveling.

Alan Clark (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

My husband has a mo business and has to park on the road. We also have a camp trailer. We like it to come home and be overnight and leave the next day.Electric was hooked up and we packed to go.

Shawna Clark (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#33

It’s a misguided ordnance that needs to be rewritten to make it fairer for homeowners and businesses

Bruce Whipple (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#37

I believe that a window should be given for the tradespeople and also for family who visit in town with rvs. Totally agree that there needs guidelines but also exemptions for certain circumstances.

Sean Ligtenberg (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

The current code is not realistic for the daily activities happening with in the city.

Melanie Rediker (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

I am a contractor (Liberty Construction) living in Buhl primarily working in Buhl. I pull my enclosed utility trailer with tools to perform my job. I often have to leave my trailer with employees to perform their work while I gather materials. We are actively working and told we cannot have our trailer on the street and there is no off street parking. How are we supposed to complete our work without incurring fines?

Brent Howard (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#47

Our freedom to use the streets, that our tax dollars provide and maintain, as we so choose should be the priority of our city leaders. They have shown that they don't care since they are not directly affected by the ordinances. I stand with my neighbors to regain our freedom to use our streets.

Marlene Runyan (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#49

Im signing this petition because this is a clear over reach by a local government trying to generate revenue for a lackey style position called "code enforcement." There are better directions my tax dollars should be sent.

Weston Byington (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

Because it’s stupid u can’t park trailer I don’t think the city has the right to keep me from letting my friend’s family or whatever homeless people I want if I lived in town I’d have a god damn tent city in my yard look it up the town started in canvas wall tents and wagons kind of*****ed up u can’t live in a trailer even while remodeling no that’s not right quit treading on me usa

Drew Parker (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#62

I’m signing because I think the current code is asinine, ridiculous, and just plain stupid. There has to be a common sense middle ground somewhere.

Brian Franson (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

As a former small business owner with a utility trailer, and nowhere to park it but the street in front of my home, this causes an extreme hardship. I believe a time limit would solve the issue of vehicles/trailers being left and essentially abandoned with regards to safety issues and lowering property appearance and value and therefore I believe the amendment should be considered.

Candice Mendez (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

We have no place to park our RV and trailers for loading or unloading before and after our camping trips. My husband has his grilling equipment attached on a trailer for his catering business, he cannot park it in front of our house to load and unload his food and supplies, before and after his jobs.

Penny Jackson (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

As a property owner and landlord in Buhl, I rely on licensed contractors, tradespeople, and service providers to maintain and improve my rental properties. These professionals need reasonable, lawful access to park their work trailers and service vehicles close to the buildings they are working on. Without this access, essential repairs and improvements become unnecessarily difficult, delayed, or even impossible.

In my case, when my plumber was performing a bathroom remodel at one of my apartment units, the city cited him for parking his work trailer in front of my building. Because my tenants already occupy the driveway and off-street parking, there was no other feasible place for him to park while completing the job. Requiring tradespeople to obtain special permits just to perform necessary work creates undue burden and increases costs for both the workers and property owners. I support this petition because Buhl needs a balanced, common-sense solution. Contractors and service providers are not a nuisance—they are an essential part of keeping our community livable and our economy functioning. Amending this ordinance to allow reasonable parking for work-related trailers would protect public safety while also ensuring that residents and property owners can access the services they need.

Christopher Robertson (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#73

I agree with the amended changes.

Cecelia Burnum (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#74

Because the new trailer rule sucks

Josh kaylor (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#75

There is no reason to take away someone's livelihood because of a trailer ordinance. Parked on the street, sure but someone actively working.

Leeanna Belt (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#77

We own a landscaping business and this code affects us and how we can do the job properly.

Brianna Larson (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#78

I think business’s should be allowed to work without the threat of fines for simply doing their jobs. Many use trailers for work purposes and should be able park them at work sites and at their own residence’s.

Lola Sparks (Buhl, 2025-08-18)

#81

I have a business and occasionally have to park at homes to unload and loadu tractor and equipment. I may be parked anywhere from 1 hr to possibly couple days depending on the size of the job. Having to purchase a permit to do this could be detrimental to the homeowner and or me as a business owner.

Mike Vanourney (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#82

I believe it is most important to keep the people of Buhl in mind when making regulations. Currently, the ordinance does not consider normal daily activities or local housing construction (like no or minimal off street parking at a residence).

Kara Kelly (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#84

I am a tradesman and see the sense in the changes proposed.

Lonnie Cox (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#85

As a contractor that works in the city of buhl it is ridiculous that I can't pull my work trailer up to house to unload supplies and work.

Jason Leverich (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#86

I’ve gone to the city time and time again to express my concerns about the trailer parking when you run a business or even summer activities. We have a trailer that leaves your house literally daily and hooking & unhooking every day is awful, not to mention unnecessary. It is a pain in the butt. We’ve lived in our home for eight years and this is the first year that we’ve ever had an issue with the trailer parking. I wrote a letter to the City stating all of my concerns, I met with Pam the mayor, I met with Jeremy the chief, and I just felt as if our concerns are not being taken into consideration. People on their board who don’t own trailers cannot relate to the struggles we have as city members. People on the board that have places to park their trailers because they have big enough properties don’t understand our struggle or concerns. I could go on and on but this has made us want to move more than ever. They are going to push people out of the town. I am tired of paying parking tickets. My trailer is a part of our business and it is not hurting anyone. All of my neighbors are in the same boat. I wouldn’t even mind if we went to a 72 hour rule that would be better than not being able to park them at all.

KriSjaan Will (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#87

I run a rental business and we are constantly loading & unloading throughout the week & weekend. Coming home from events late/early in the morning & it’s not feasible to park off the street to just wake up at 6-7am to unload or load.

Jason Will (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#88

We like to be able to load our camp trailer the night before we leave and have to park it in the street.

Shado Timm (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#90

We like to load out camper on the street the night before we leave to go camping. Also, Im always using my small utility trailer to load things and haul stuff away and parking on the street is way more convenient and its only short term like a day or 2.

Bruce Timm (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#91

I’m signing because the current ordinance is unrealistic. I don’t want trailers lining the streets, but 48/72 hours would give enough time to unload and put away.

ToniAnne Aldrich (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#94

i have property in Buhl and think this ordinance needs a revision

Michael Wall (Twin Falls, 2025-08-19)

#97

The trailer situation is ridiculous!

Krista Murphy (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#98

The current code is unreasonable.

Ron Orr (Buhl, 2025-08-19)

#105

I don’t want my home town looking like trash.

Heidi Neitzel (Buhl, 2025-08-20)

#106

I am signing this as a resident in Buhl myself, I have been part of this community for 20 years, I have family and friends that live within the city limits that this would hurt if not agreed to. Fining the community for utilizing the small area in front or around their homes is mind blowing.

Jessica Olsen (Buhl, 2025-08-20)

#113

There are times we need to load and prepare our trailer do things and need to park in front of our house on the street.

LaDawn Hoogland (Buhl, 2025-08-21)

#130

Seems like a reasonable request. Hope our city leaders give it a fair hearing.

Michael Knudsen (Buhl, 2025-08-25)

#131

I live in city limits and can not park our camping trailer on the street to load and unload for our trips. It was recommended by the code enforcer that I could park trailer on my lawn but I take pride in my clean cut well maintained yard. There has to be some common sense to parking when it's for short period of times. I also life in a dead end road which means there is hardly any traffic besides other homeowners. I am in favor of what Joshua Dowding recommends to review such ordinance.

Maria Limas (Buhl, 2025-08-25)

#132

I believe we should be able to park where and what we need to within reason.

Beverly Bennett (Buhl, 2025-08-25)

#134

I believe the current ordinance needs to be cHanged. This one is old and outdated

cindy Bell (Buhl, 2025-08-25)

#135

I'm signing this petition because both of my sons are tradesmen and have to park on the street a lot when they're working on someone's home it doesn't mean I approve of people leaving cars on the street 24/7 I did have a neighbor leave his trailer parked in front of his house for almost a year which was blocking the line of sight on a intersection and almost caused several wrecks he was finally told to move it so there are exceptions to every rule of course.

Tammie Perrine (Buhl, 2025-08-26)

#140

People need to be able to park trailers while working. And/or on their own property without getting a ticket

Shannon Owen (Buhl, 2025-08-26)

#142

My family and I enjoy camping. We love to load and unpack our trailer in front of our home. We don’t not like getting tickets and simply can’t afford them. A reasonable amount of time to load and unload a trailer should be allowed for taxpayers and homeowners in the city of Buhl!

Jennifer Ackerman (Buhl, 2025-08-26)

#144

Most Residents don't have the parking space to put their trailers off the street and cannot afford storage. Businesses have to have their trailers so they have supplies close. We all need those businesses for upkeep on our properties

Cindy Finney (Buhl, 2025-08-26)

#145

The way the trailer ordinance is written is not convenient for the people of Buhl and contractors. It really needs to be changed. Not necessarily an open time to park on street but something sensible.
