It's dangerous for motorists to get stuck in sand at a high risk location day or night time. This problem has been ongoing for too long now and the authorities seriously need to do something here to alleviate motorists stress

I am signing this petition to address the persistent sand buildup issue on Baden Powell Drive.
We urge the relevant authorities to implement a permanent solution to this ongoing challenge.

The constant sand buildup has a significant impact on our working-class community, causing delays and disruptions to daily commutes. Moreover, the frequent cleanup efforts divert valuable resources and funds that could be better utilized elsewhere.

By resolving this issue once and for all, we can save the city significant funds and resources currently spent on repeated cleanup operations.

Let's work together to find a lasting solution and improve the daily lives of our community members."

I'm signing this petition as the issue of sand moving across the R310 Baden Powell Drive is a huge safety issue for motorists and I have been inconvenienced too many times with road closures and detours through Khayelitsha causing me to arrive at work late and putting my employment at risk.

The sand on roadway is not only dangerous but causes major traffic build up due to diversions when there is road closures too

I use this road often and it's just so risky and accident waiting to happen when the sand builds up the way it does.

Daily route for dropping off and collecting kids at school and sand build up tends to happen at the same spots causing heavy delays and is becoming more and more common.

The road closure due to sand build up creates so much havoc with traffic, and it is already terrible with road works happening in Mitchell's Plain

Traffic is bad and an extra road to exit MP would ease that in the mornings and afternoons - however unable to drive because of sand

This has been an on going problem for too many years, it is a major complication causing traffic jams, bumper to bumper which is fuel consuming, workers and scholars arriving late at there destinations, vehicles getting stuck plus a good opportunity for prowlers to rob, hurt even kill the motorist.

I make use of the Baden Powell drive on a daily basis from Steenberg to Stellenbosch...and travelling can be a breeze at times, but a nightmare if there's even just a smell of a breeze in the air. as the sand build up on specific spots makes driving no longer an easy one but a scary and stressful one. The sand build up should be an area of priority whenever the weather is the way that its been for the past few weeks / months: there should be clearing thereof prepared and on standby: instead, the road gets closed and sometimes not proper traffic guidance to get through the 'dunes' of sand: they are present without assisting in directing traffic other than redirecting through Khayelitsha which is alerted as a high risk area with the tracker companies and no guidance from the traffic or police department through these redirections: we literally need o figure out our routes ourselves as drivers, especially those not familiar with this area. This should mean something wrt the safety of the Travellers making use of this route, instead they await for 'something' to happen before they jump in to assist. This is a heavy traffic road with hectic traffic throughout the day from early hours in the morning to late at night: we need urgent prioritizing of clearing of to prevent accidents caused by impatient drivers.

The commute to work is difficult when there is sand across both lanes. I have been a victim of being stuck in the sand and thus putting my life at danger. It also cost me more in fuel and resulting in being late going via R300 and the N2 to work in Stellenbosch

The road is very dangerous with sand covering it daily. It is a heaven sent road for road uses from Strand, Gordon's bay, Somerset West and Stellenbosch. It is a much quicker way to Muizenberg etc.
Something needs to be done to secure a more safer journey along Baden Powell Drive

The Baden Powell drive has become a danger both in terms of sand build up in windy conditions as well as when one gets stuck in said sand on certain parts of the road with little or no law enforcement visibility. The City and Province should really do something about this, I'm sure there are solutions to this issue which has been going on for years with little or no interest from local and provincial authorities.

This problem with the sand build up has been an inconvenience for years and nothing has been done to rectify the problem. As soon as the wind blows ( and that is very often) we are inconvenienced by road closures etc. We have to spend hours on the roads trying to reach our workplaces. This problem can be solved by erecting barriers along the Beach road.
