I wholeheartedly support the mahi that this family do for our local communtiy.

This is my friends family business & at a time when all businesses are suffering, & especially small businesses, it seems ludicrous to be shutting down one that is so well-established & well-loved by their community.

Rebecca Wilson (Auckland , 2020-10-04)

#5

Definitely signing. Their firewood keeps us warm it winter and also very affordable. It’s a local business who hires so sending our support !

Hayley Sinton (Auckland , 2020-10-04)

#7

This is my job and livelihood. This is how I keep a roof over my families head.

Cole Knight (Orewa, 2020-10-04)

#8

This company offer excellent service and quality product at competitive rates. I worked on a neighbouring property for six years including weekends and evenings, over that time machinery noise had reduced considerably so that it was not an issue.

Karen Stevens (Kaipara, 2020-10-04)

#10

My family and I use this service.... our fireplace is the only source of heating we have for our family with young kids in the rental we stay in. The owners of this are lovely, helpful and always willing to help the community. Please dont take this away from not just them but the famillies and elderly who rely on it to keep warm.

Shara-lee Stewart (whangaparaoa, 2020-10-04)

This family are a hard working family providing an essential service. They are taking sensible action re the noise. I consider that people who choose to live semi rural need to know that farming and related businesses make noise etc. This family were here long before lifestyle blocks. Accordingly I support them fully. If neighbour don’t like already established businesses, they can move!!!

Patricia Nilsson (Orewa, 2020-10-04)

#14

Ruth and her family are awesome people who provide a service with a smile on their faces. There is history in their Business and they are hardworking and good kiwis.

Emilie Meredith (Dairy Flat, 2020-10-04)

#16

I work close by to these hard working people and at no time have I been affected by noise or other pollution.

I worked for Ruth and Grant at Silverdale Landscape Services Ltd for 13+ years on site at Aubrey Road. This family have always gone above and way beyond to provide professional and efficient services to all their customers and clients. People on the outside do not realise the blood sweat and tears that they put into the various roles of the business. After working a 8-10hr day landscaping, mowing, doing burials for the community, they then head out and deliver firewood to customers who need firewood at the drop of a hat. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I have personally been involved and attended the burials they carry out at the Council Cemeteries and the professional and personal touches they make ensures every family can be assured of a good Farewell of their loved one.

This family and their extended whanau (their staff) deserve to continue their business. They have clearly taken all the steps needed to provide a quieter working yard to appease those selected few neighbours. The community needs Silverdale Landscape Services Ltd.

Neighbouring owners whether they have just purchased or long term this business has been there a long time why would you want to ruin someone's business just get on with your own!!!!!

Cushla Hackett (Whangaparaoa, 2020-10-04)

#21

This is so unjust. This year has been hard enough without petty people trying to ruin this business

Debbie Hogan (Auckland, 2020-10-04)

#26

I'm signing because Silverdale Landscape Services provide an essential service to the local community with the supply of firewood. I would be lost without being able to buy my firewood from them, therefore making it impossible to keep my family warm in winter. There is nobody else in the community that offer the service that they do.

Catherine Bond (Auckland, 2020-10-04)

#28

We used to live in Dairy Flat, & Stillwater and these people are awesome and have delivered wood on short notice to keep us from getting cold thru the winter months, and always polite & friendly and it’s their business... I see no sound reason for the council to try shutting them down!

Douglas Hannay (Whangaparaoa, 2020-10-04)

#29

This is an important and essential local business!

Rebecca Coggins (Albany, 2020-10-04)

#32

I know this family who are honest and hard working. I totally support them.

Brenda Mayhew (kapiti Coast, 2020-10-04)

#33

My husband ray Sampson worked there for 10 years and only had to give it up because of health reasons, how dear the council try to do this to them that is so unfair

Ruby Sampson (Auckland , 2020-10-04)

#34

I would like to support our dear friends Ruth and Grant. They are a big part of our local community and the dairy flat community and always offer proffesional services. . I endorse their business as one of the few locals providing locals that are left. We do not want to purchase our firewood from a corporate such as mitre 10. We want to purchase from a local family business.

Liesbeth Jong (Auckland, 2020-10-04)

#35

I’m signing because I don’t believe that people moving into an area have the right to change the area to suit themselves! If you don’t like the look of the neighbours, don’t buy a house nearby!
If a business has had consent to operate for 19 years they should be allowed to continue and councils need to look at the whole area and existing use rights before consenting to developments that will have potential conflicts

Faye Letham (Orewa, 2020-10-04)

#38

If a business exists prior to people moving into the neighbourhood, they know what they have around them. To try to change the area because it does not fit in with their wants is so wrong!

Lesley Wheatley (Auckland, 2020-10-04)

#40

I'm signing because this is a business that has been operating in this location for nearly 20 years and giving back to this community during this time, now because a few new city folk move in and complain there is an issue?? Really! In these times we need to be supporting our local employees not penalising them!!

Elizabeth Cotter (Auckland , 2020-10-04)

#46

Ruth and grant are extremely obliging and community minded and their business covers a huge amount of need and value in our ever growing community....they have a long connection to this area and are being unfairly dismissed by people who do not know their valuable and sustainable contribution to our lives...I need their wood supply to heat my house each winter...please don't take them down.

Anna Hildesley (Redbeach, 2020-10-05)

#47

This is a long standing local business that needs to be supported. They are doing everything they can to reduce any noise

Sandy Mackereth (Orewa, 2020-10-05)

#53

The business has been there for a long time. To close it down is not right. Why dont the council talk things over and try to work out a solution.

Louise Higgins (Auckland, 2020-10-05)

#54

We dont want to loose a valuable local business.

Rachel Anderson (Auckland , 2020-10-05)

#55

I don't agree with what is happening here !

Yvonne Doyle (Silverdale , 2020-10-05)

#56

Silverdale Landscape Services is a valuable local business that we rely on for firewood supply each winter.

Emma Johnstone-Gill (Auckland , 2020-10-06)

#57

Silverdale Landscape Services is a critical service provider to the local community, and provides a fantastic service. It is a shame that these issues distract from allowing businesses to continue to support their communities.

Karl Gill (Auckland, 2020-10-06)

#59

This is ridiculous, that a business and jobs could be lost for something so petty. When people moved in the knew where they were living. Imagine if we shut down the airport just because it got busier and more planes few therefore annoying people. This business uses technology and common sense to minimise issues and the council are just being heavy handed.

Angela Anderson (Birkenhead, 2020-10-06)

#64

Save a local business from being taken down by petty politics

Kylie Eygermans (Orewa , 2020-10-07)

#66

This business should be allowed to continue operating. They have been running there business and providing an excellent service to the community. It is like everything these days people build there houses fully knowing that those businesses are there and then once in there new homes kick up a stink about there neighbours..no way should the business have to pack up and leave. I hope the council backs the business who by the sound of it have already adjusted there working environment to suit those townies..

Kimberley Broad (Whangaparaoa, 2020-10-07)

#72

Auckland Council should be working to support businesses adapt to urbanisation (which they as council are pushing without considering consequences), not close down establisshed business.

Andrew Bodmer (Auckland, 2020-10-07)

#74

Silverdale Landscapes are great neighbours to us at Riding for the Disabled

Philippa Nicholls (Auckland, 2020-10-07)

#75

It’s a good business run by good people. No need for heavy handed crap from an inept council.

Lawrence Clark (Auckland, 2020-10-07)

#76

This is simply outrageous!

Jonathan Parker (Auckland , 2020-10-07)

#79

It’s wrong for a business to be shut down for doing their job- and one which they’ve been doing well for years- because of one or two complaints from new neighbours.

Jane Jeffrey (Auckland , 2020-10-07)

#80

Reasonable hours to have noise..

Melanie Bakes (Auckland, 2020-10-07)

The community needs to retain these types of industry.

Jill Garton (Auckland, 2020-10-07)

#83

We need business like these and not closing them down because of one or two people

Freddy Williams (Auckland, 2020-10-07)

#87

This business has been operating long before the expansion of homes in the area

Karen Little (Aucklan, 2020-10-07)

#88

I want to save this business and ALL facets of it from being forced to shut down. They have gone above and beyond to minimize their operating hours and noise levels so that their business can continue to operate.

Judy Leishman (Silverdale , 2020-10-08)

#91

A couple of complaints that can be managed and Auckland Council wants to close the whole business down at a time when we are all trying to support local businesses to stay open during these very hard times. Bad form Auckland Council, not impressed .

Sally Gates (Auckland, 2020-10-08)

#96

We live in Torbay and have often used their services. It would be such a shame to have them no longer available.

Megan Yates (Torbay, 2020-10-08)

#100

Ruth, her family and their business have been generous supporters of Girl Guides in Orewa - from voluntary tree trimming at the hall to providing (and driving) the truck for the Orewa Santa Parade. Ruth and family have always been reliable, responsible and honest in all the dealings I have had with them. Please show the same respect to them at this time.

Clare Grimwood (Orewa, 2020-10-08)

#101

We use them when we need to purchase firewood. Great service

Jill Ryan (Auckland, 2020-10-08)

#104

We need to support these people who support local charities. They have made many changes to accommodate neighbours

Christine Lamb (Auckland , 2020-10-08)

#106

I believe in supporting local businesses to keep continuing in NZ. I wholeheartedly support any business that employs locally, is long established and in this instance is adhering to noise reduction. We need to support small businesses in these strange times!

Sam Dickenson (Torbay, 2020-10-08)

#109

Love to support our small local businesses

Julie Prior (Whangaparaoa, 2020-10-08)

#112

Dont buy next to something that has been there doing good for the community for years then complain about a bit of noise

Caro Hudson (Auckland, 2020-10-09)

#114

I'm signing this petition because Silverdale Landscape Supplies support the community abd provide for the community. They should be given a fair chance to keep their business operating.

Tanya Syme (Auckland, 2020-10-09)

#119

For years this business provided jobs for the local community, therefore several families will be effected if they have to close, only because one neighbor complained. this is not fair at all , as Silverdale Landscape works only at normal working hours and have set in place noise reducing measurements, any farmer will use machinery which will produce some noise and nobody is complaining there. To keep these jobs is especially important during this Covid-19 job- loss crisis. The government supports companies, right now, to keep their employees, why should a council have the power to destroy jobs. Then there is the point that they use sustainable timber waste, which is environmental friendly, from Treescape, which will effect another business as well.

Gabriele Mabon (Orewa, 2020-10-09)

#121

This company provide and have provided an essential service to our community for close on 20 years. They are working hard to upgrade and adjust their business practice as urbanisation creeps in closer to their premises. I ask you support this company to maintained a viable business model so they continue to support our community with the essential services they offer.

linda clarke (auckland, 2020-10-11)

#122

This business was long established before the urban neighbourhood closed in on it. The neighbours should have done their homework before they purchased and if the business is doing everything to mitigate the noise then they should be allowed to operate within those guidelines. They employ local people and give a great service. I support local and small business. Good luck

Janine Whitehead (Auckland, 2020-10-11)

#124

They do a great job & shouldn't be shut down by council for any reason :)

Mark Hickford (Orewa, 2020-10-12)

#125

My parents business is the only reason that there is a roof over our heads and that our family is well fed and alive. My mother works so hard in admin in the office and my father also works hard either out in the field or at home in the yard.

Kaitlin Amos (Silverdale, 2020-10-14)

Ngaire Thornton (Auckland , 2020-10-18)

#137

very very unfair

sonya turnwald (Auckland , 2020-10-18)

#138

Because this company fantastic asset to the community and will be sorely missed. We have already suffered enough job and business losses due to the recent/on going global crisis. Auckland Council please come to a reasonable agreement so that all parties can be happy and we don’t lose another business and put more families in turmoil.

Sarah Nilsson (Auckland , 2020-10-18)

#148

I’m signing because the services and the work that Silverdale landscape provide to myself and the wider community are very important to our community. We are rural as are they. We depend on their firewood deliveries but that is not all they do. It is fundamentally wrong to instruct them to cease all business. There has to be a smarter way to try and work with them so that they keep their business which goes back longer than those complaining have lived in the area have less noise but that the businesses can continue.

Wendy Marsland (Silverdale, 2020-10-18)

#151

Great people community treasures

David Hardy (RD 3, 2020-10-18)

#152

Silverdale Landscape Services have been used by my family for nearly 20 years. I know Ruth and her family have big supporters for their local community. I know they employ people from their community, I know that Ruth and her family are the last people on earth that intentionally create noise and would do their utmost to limit the noise for their neighbours. Maybe the neighbours should move? Maybe the ACC should actually be realistic....for once.

Julie Marshall (Auckland, 2020-10-19)

#153

Have been purchasing firewood for 13 years from Ruth & Grant, they work very hard they also heavily support their local community, the complaining neighbors an the Akl CC should be more realistic with their heavy handed actions, you are about to decimate a families business.

Alan Sturgess (Auckland, 2020-10-19)

I am signing this because I have strong family ties to the owner of this business and to this property and would hate to see this small business shut down.

Harriet Youl (Melbourne, 2020-10-22)

#159

We have been ordering our firewood for the last nine years. It concerns me how the Council would consider closing this essential buisness Which will also mean contributing to the loss of jobs.

Helen Porter (Arkles Bay, 2020-10-26)

I'm signing against any allegations for preventing Grant and Ruth from running there business on there premises.

Johan Erasmus (Auckland, 2020-10-28)

This friendly, helpful Company provide such a valuable service. Enabling this 76 year old to buy wood by the bag for my eco friendly woodburner which keeps me warm throughout the winter with the help of the Government winter subsidy.
