79 Commerce Elevator Reliability Petition

Petition to Address Ongoing Elevator Outages at 79 Commerce

Residents of 79 Commerce have experienced ongoing and repeated elevator outages over the past several months. Approximately every other month, the elevator has been out of service, and repairs often take several weeks sometimes even months to complete.

A functioning elevator is a basic building amenity that residents pay for as part of our monthly rent. Prolonged outages place an unreasonable burden on residents, especially those with mobility challenges, medical needs, children, groceries, or work-related obligations. These disruptions significantly impact residents’ quality of life and ability to safely and comfortably access their homes.

We respectfully request that Foshee Apartments take stronger accountability for maintaining this essential amenity. Specifically, residents are proposing the following policy:

If the elevator at 79 Commerce is out of service for more than fourteen (14) consecutive days, a $150.00 credit should be applied to affected residents’ rent balances.

This request is not punitive. Rather, it reflects fair compensation for the loss of a paid amenity and encourages timely repairs and preventative maintenance moving forward.

By signing this petition, residents of 79 Commerce are asking Foshee Residential to recognize the ongoing impact of these outages and to implement a reasonable solution that promotes accountability, transparency, and livable housing conditions.
