The Great Forest National Park

Hey everyone,

Thank you so much for signing our petition to encourage Deakin University to sign the Ethical Paper Pledge. It is because of your signature that Deakin University has taken the next step and organised a meeting between Deakin, us, VicForests and Australian Paper to debate the topical issues and reach a sustainable conclusion. We very much appreciate your support and wouldn't have reached this outcome without it.

Whats next?
The Wilderness Society is currently campaigning for a new national park for Melbourne;
The Great Forest National Park. The proposed park encompasses the Mountain Ash forests of the Central Highlands and will ensure permanent protection from logging!
The park has already gathered a huge amount of support, and is being backed by environmental heavy waits including David Lindenmayer, David Attenborough and Jane Goodall,
But we need your help!!  Upcoming is the election to choose a new premier for Victoria, and during this time, now more than ever we need your support for the park!  Liberal has made it clear that they will go into the election with a 'No new National parks policy', therefore we need to counteract this with public support to make this conservationists dream a reality! The Greens have expressed their support , and we are hopeful about Labor.

Friday 21 November:  Great Forest National Park Parade & BBQ : Royal Exhibition Centre > Carlton Gardens

Join us as we parade from park to park for the Great Forest National Park to raise awareness for the proposal.

Join the Canvassing Team 
We are reaching out to the Victorian public about the Great Forest National Park by handing out flyers, holding information stalls, making phone calls and having good old fashioned face-to-face conversations. Together we can make this happen. Join the canvassing team and be part of history!.
