Lieu/Waters/Chemical Safety Board Hearing Regarding ExxonMobil Refinery, Wednesday, January 13
2016-01-12 02:01:20You're receiving this email because you signed our petition to have the use of hydrofluoric acid discontinued from use at the Torrance ExxonMobil refinery as well as the Valero refinery in Wilmington.
Please come out to the US Chemical Safety Board hearing that Congressman Ted Lieu and Congresswoman Maxine Waters are chairing. The hearing will take place Wednesday, Janaury 13 from 5:00 to 10:00 pm in Torrance City Hall Council Chambers, 3301 Torrance Blvd.
You will hear the Chemical Safety Board's findings of their investigation into the February 18, 2015 explosion, the causes, ExxonMobil's safety violations that led to the explosion, the terrifying near miss of the alkylation unit containing deadly hydrofluoric acid, etc.
Make your voice heard. Let them know how you feel about this deadly chemical being used in our midst when they could convert to a safer alternative.
Please show how much the community cares about this issue by being present at the meeting. Numbers speak louder than words with officials and with ExxonMobil. If they think we're just a couple of cranks, they won't do anything. Let them see how much the community cares.
