We, the undersigned, respectfully call on Vancouver Island University (VIU) to explore and establish an accredited Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) program at its Nanaimo campus.
Currently, many Vancouver Island residents who want to become Registered Massage Therapists must relocate to attend school. This creates financial, family, and personal hardships for parents, working adults, and students who cannot leave their communities to pursue their education.
A Registered Massage Therapy program at VIU would make this career more accessible while helping meet the growing demand for qualified healthcare professionals across Vancouver Island.
An RMT program at VIU would:
• Increase access to healthcare education for Vancouver Island residents. • Support parents and working adults who cannot relocate. • Help address the shortage of Registered Massage Therapists in our communities. • Keep students, graduates, and skilled healthcare professionals on Vancouver Island. • Strengthen healthcare services and community wellness throughout the region.
We respectfully ask Vancouver Island University to research the demand, feasibility, and benefits of creating an accredited Registered Massage Therapy program in Nanaimo.
By signing this petition, you are showing your support for making Registered Massage Therapy education more accessible to students and families across Vancouver Island.
Thank you for your support. Together, we can help bring RMT education to VIU and strengthen healthcare in our communities.
