Banning demonstrations is no way to handle such situations. It is obscene to ban anti-war demonstrations when hundreds are dying.

I'm the Honorary President of the French Jewish Peace Union (UJFP). My comrades and I participated in the unauthorised demonstration in Paris on 19 July with a banner saying "Jews and Arabs United for Peace".

When governments fail to act against those who commit war crimes it falls to the people to act through demonstrations and direct action, and of course politicians of those governments are going to try to legislate against people doing that. But it is worth remembering “We are many and they are few, they need us more than we need them”. We can prevail if we stick together.

Re:
Shalom/Salaam,
I agree, Jews and Muslims are brothers and sisters. I dream of the day our peoples can live in peace. Radicals on both sides attempt to impose their extremist views on us. We the middle and fair minded need to stand our ground.

I'm shocked that France would outlaw peaceful demonstrations and attack protestors. It seems very un-French to me. The police's job should be to keep the peace in the case of any violence that might break out on the margins.
