My late grandfather was a farrier and I used to accompany him to Newmarket to watch him shoe race horses. My children learned to ride at the stables 30-odd years ago.

New Market has been for so long and is part Durban heritage.
I have had many happy memories of going to shows with my lovely horse Endless Flight and it pains me to think it with be destroyed.
There must be so many other places suitable for a football academy.
Please, please don't do away with the New Market stables!!!!!

I drive past the stables and horses grazing every day and feel too sad to think they are going to take it all away. Why don't they build further down adjacent to the Moses Mabida stadium where all the open fields are.

Why take away something that benefits so many.
I am sure they can find other grounds for the soccer acadamy.

the stables are a great asset to Durban; a place where riders and horse lovers in general can appreciate these lovely animals, and a green space to purify our city environment. It would be a cruel thing to kill the resident horses before their time.

I love horses and I am outraged at what the municipality is doing to these poor horses.

No Soccer Academy please !!!....enough....Newmarket Stables has great history, a facility used for competitive, pleasure, disabled riders of all races and their wonderful horses, grooms and trainers who will no longer have employment, homes any longer !

This venue is just so needed by the public and not another "white elephant" soccer stadium. Enough wasted space costing millions in this city.

My dear departed father Freddie Chappell used to be a jockey and then trainer in Durban when I was born in 1957 his horse won Durban July (Megrain) so I had to support . Good luck

If Liverpools no longer involved, why is it going ahead? We have football pitches and clubs down the road from the stables.

Are horses not part of a sporting precinct - to make way for a soccer academy.... Really!

I now live in England but I used to ride a lot when I lived in Durban. The Newmarket Stables was one of the places I used to ride. When I go back to visit Durban I make time to go horse riding. If it were not for places like Newmarket Stables I would not have learnt to ride and still be riding horses at age 46 years. I hope that Newmarket Stables will still be open for business when I visit Durban this year in September so that I can take a trip down memory lane and go for a horse ride there.

I signed this petition because I believe the Newmarket Stables not only offers our children a beautiful place to learn about and ride horses but also houses our very important mounted police. The stables are a part of Durban History and Heritage and should be PRESERVED and not DESTROYED!!!!!!!!!!!
