I know many families in.Grove school that can not afford yet another uniform change if the pupils voted against then surley as they are the consumer their wishes should be respected
Guest#2 Feb 05, 2016, 10:03
Because schools seems to care more about molding children and making the school look good on forms, instead of their mental welfare now adays,it's a ugly uniform anyway the badgevlooks tacky and the jacket looks like something from a holiday camp in the 70's

Concentrate on teaching, improve standards, achieve an ofsted report to be proud, then if you really feel it necessary to change the uniform do so but not until the rest of your house is in order!

Guest#4 Feb 05, 2016, 14:14
Because I think it's important to be democratic about these sort of decisions. Not once were the parents consulted, the children voted themselves and were not taken seriously, Not acceptable!!
Guest#5 Feb 05, 2016, 15:14
Uniform looks cheap and tacky. Current uniform is better and looks a much better quality.
Guest#6 Feb 05, 2016, 15:45
Because parents were not consulted we were just informed of the change, the present uniform is smart and has only been in place 3 years
Guest#7 Feb 05, 2016, 16:17
I think that right now there are a lot of other improvements that need doing in the school.I don't think that changing the uniform will give the school any better reputation or standard.Which I believe the school is seriously lacking at the moment.

Black blazer is so much more modern
Guest#9 Feb 05, 2016, 16:58
it's a horrible looking uniform and I have just brought 2 new blazers from the uniform shop not made of money .

Very true but it seems the pupils opinions dont count as usual with mrs taylor i think its vile and my son will not be wearing it

Guest#11 Feb 05, 2016, 17:06
The new blazer looks awful with the colourful logo, the new logo would of looked much better on the black blazers. The grey tie is also awful, miserable draining colours. All black looks very smart, grey looks old fashioned and dreary!
Guest#12 Feb 05, 2016, 17:51
If the staff like the uniform so much let them wear it and leave the children to wear the black one
Guest#13 Feb 05, 2016, 18:22
Looks awful and the majority of students voted to keep the uniform as is. Why take a vote if your not going to use the majority.
Guest#14 Feb 05, 2016, 18:46
I was not happy that the uniform was changing due to increased costs in getting the new blazer when my daughter has 2 perfectly good ones already. Now I've seen the new design I feel it looks cheap quality.
Guest#15 Feb 05, 2016, 19:11
completely unacceptable. the head needs to get from up her own backside and concentrate on pupils not a uniform. less supply teachers.. makes you wonder why there is so many supply teachers... ??? better canteen food and better access. I was not impressed when I visited the school under this head
Guest#16 Feb 05, 2016, 19:20

The current uniform is smart, and there is not a necessity to make any changes. Call me mad, but won't you improve the schools teaching and results first.

Mrs B#17 Feb 05, 2016, 20:05

I really like the new uniform. Hopefully it will instill a sense of pride and belonging for the students, the 50th anniversary is a perfect opportunity to rebrand and reinvigorate the school.

I like this uniform too, it gives the students a new identity to be proud of..... The school is moving forward rapidly and it's great that students are thought of very highly!!!!! Parents should be supporting the school as it strives to become outstanding!!

Dawn Clayton#19 Feb 05, 2016, 21:18

My daughter is looking forward to having her new uniform.

I really don't care about anything else as long as she's happy and doing well at Grove.  And she certainly is.  Well done Grove.

Guest#20 Feb 06, 2016, 02:01
My child is year 7 Iv just bought her a new blazer to last her for the rest of her years at grove. I cannot afford to buy a whole new uniform
Guest#21 Feb 06, 2016, 10:17

As many students at Grove School voted for the Uniform to stay black yet the headteacher and staff changed it to grey so why let the students vote then not get the uniform they want.

Guest#22 Feb 06, 2016, 10:37
Can't see a good reason to change the present one. Additionally, if the kids have been given the chance to vote and then that vote is not acted on, then it undermines their self esteem and denigrates a proper understanding of democracy.
Guest#23 Feb 06, 2016, 10:40

My daughter has been at the school through two uniform changes already! The majority of them wear hoodies etc under their blazers because they can't carry big coats around all day (lockers instead of uniform change!!!!!) - I was in the school the other day and two girls walked past a member of staff with skirts well above the supposed knee length policy - nothing was said to them so what is the point of policy if it is not going to be enforced by the staff

Re:

The Grove is not a business or a brand.  It's a school.

Re: Re:

#18: Mrs G - Re:

I do not get the impression that the students are thought very highly of, especially if their votes don't count.
