we have been asking the council over many years for a swimming pool in plymstock without success. council always comes up with some excuse.. sherford is not in plymstock so why suggest a pool should be located there when they have not contributed anything towards the cost..nothing seems to get done in plymstock by the council.. yet plympton seems much better better at get antthing done...
The swimming pool should be near the Plymstock Broadway
Re:
unfortunately the council passed a planning application for flats and houses for this site.
If a Swimming Pool were to be built in Plymstock then we would definitely Support it.
This Petition needs all the support it can get.
Plystock Swimming Pool
We have been waiting for a very long time for a local swimming pool. We either have to travel to Plympton or to the Life Centre and as we are not getting any younger this would be a great advantage to us and many other elderly people who would like to have use of this facility. It would also keep us all a lot healthier and keep us out of hospital. I would have thought with the new Sherfrd Development being built with a substantial increase of the population in Plymstock it is vital that everyone can have the benefit and enjoyment of a local swimming pool.
I have lived in Plymstock for almost 40 years with the promise of a swimming pool for the greater majority of those years. I would love to see and enjoy, like a great number of other people, the benefits of having a swimming pool on our doorstep before I shuffle my mortal coil. Although knowing PCC's preference for Plympton over Plymstock, my coil will no longer be mortal and would have been shuffled a long time before a pool materialises in Plymstock.
Perhaps we should also blame the apathy of the greater majority of Plymstock residents who would use the pool but cannot be bothered to rouse themselves to sign a petition to let PCC know how frustrated many of us are with PCC.
As to where the pool should be sited then the only logical place that has any sort of space is up near "The Staddy" or, if at a push, use some of the land on Breakwater Road, which has a dedicated road and other infrastructure already in place and not being used.

Unfortunately the council passed a planning application for flats and Houses on the Downham School site.
The Downhorn Park site that was tried for before is still available.
