Many people do not realize when drag racing at a dragstrip  on a weekly or monthly basis new friends you meet

and race with become another family,You respect everyone and they respect you as its a sport that people enjoy and help

eachother doing.Drinking and drugs are never welcome at any track as people put there life into building these cars

and staying safe while racing.I hope this track can happen as i would be a weekly particapant

Years ago I raced at Conn. dragway. In recent years I have been going to Lebanon Valley. It would be tremendous to have a drag strip in Conn.

This will be very beneficial to get street racer off the street and bring revenue to windham and surrounding towns.

we've lost so many strips is about time we get one back. This is key to helping young auto enthusiasts have a safe place to run their cars without having to street race.

The benefit from the proposed facility is obvious: unique interesting family activities not otherwise available within ~100 miles, safe venue for car-savvy folks, particularly young people, and, based upon plenty of historical data, very low risk of poor participation. Other states (such as California) have relied so heavily upon these sorts of organized activities to reduce irresponsible street behavior (in cars)that the support to maintain such facilities is part of their culture. The real question, here, is whether the fear of something "new" will be enough to discourage locals who have never even been to a similar facility. I would strongly recommend educating all within the approval chain based upon an understanding of their perceived fears rather than repetitively plead based upon personal desire (hey- I would LOVE a LOCAL dragstrip at which to race my car- believe me). The Richmond, RI attempt was apparently killed by local opposition fearing noise, traffic and "disruption", including "increased crime" (a friend who lives there told me). The Quonset Pt. attempt apparently passed all local opposition and was killed for "homeland security" reasons (according an involved racer friend). Learning as much as possible about locals' fears and providing a credible, reassuring risk mitigation plan will be key. Be ready to compromise , at least initially, i.e. hours of operation, and noise creation (perhaps all cars would be muffled during weekday evenings, no light-off before 10 am on weekends, etc). The locals hold the key. Period.

I have drag raced at Ct. dragway for six full years and one full year at New England dragway after Ct. dragway closed. I am now running a 9 second car. Why not keep mine and all of my friends money in ct.I would be there every week again.

Guest#148 Jan 24, 2014, 01:49
Great to see a legal drag racing venue in Ct
Guest#149 Jan 24, 2014, 07:37
Even though I live near a track with in 25 minutes I would like to travel to other local tracks
Guest#150 Jan 24, 2014, 22:02
I sure hope this project gets completed. I have told a lot of people. Seeing a lot of big eyes and smiles just like mine. I have two cars I'd like to bring to your track. One is a tube chassis car, and the other a street car. There will be a lot of unhappy racers if this don't happen, and unhappy spectators.
