Closure of Glamis Hall Wellingborough - Council Decision

For the past few years this centre has become a lifeline for my mother who is now 80. I cannot believe that the council has decided to shut it down, she told me many people there were in tears, as for some this is the only chance they have to mix with other people, loneliness is such a terrible thing, we always felt that wellingborough looked after the elderly community well, so now just feel so disappointed at the councils decision, once taken away I do not see it returning and we will all be elderly one day so this is a fight for ourselves as much as the people using it now!!!

The day centre is my Mum's only opportunity to socialise with her friends every week. Please keep the centre open.

A sad reflection of a society that cares so little for its vulnerable members

My mother attended Glamis Hall for the best part of twenty years when she was vulnerable and incapacitated in many ways through illness. It was her lifeline and support. The staff were always marvellous and supportive. The closure, for whatever reason and without any consultation, shows a total and callous lack of understanding of the need to care for elderly and vulnerable members of our community. The councillors should be totally ashamed of themselves for acting in such a dispicable way. That's what my mum would have said it if she was still here. Perhaps the councillors and political leaders should consider cutting their allowances first rather than make the elderly of the borough pay. Perhaps the voters can use their democratic powers to vote for a more sympathetic and caring Wellingborough councillors at the next opportunity

My mother who died last year went to Glamis Hall and had many happy days there , I think it is a tragedy that those who go there now will be deprived of this important centre.
