IN THE MATTER OF CASE: Robbery with Aggravating Circumstances – Toposcope, Bathurst

We, the undersigned residents of Bathurst and the surrounding community, strongly oppose the granting of bail to the suspect arrested in connection with the stabbing and robbery that occurred at the Toposcope site over the past weekend.

This act of violence not only endangered the life of the victim but has instilled fear and distress throughout our community, especially as it occurred in a known public and historical space often visited by locals and tourists alike.

We believe that releasing the accused on bail would:

• Pose a continued threat to public safety

• Undermine public confidence in the justice system

• Potentially lead to intimidation of witnesses or interference with the investigation

• Send the wrong message to other would-be offenders

We respectfully urge the court to consider the severity of this crime and the broader social impact on the community and to deny bail in the interest of justice and safety.
