“Justice for Thobile: Install Speed Humps on Kingsway Road”
We, the residents of Daveyton and surrounding areas, call on the Ekurhuleni Municipality and Metro Police Department to urgently install speed humps, pedestrian crossings, and warning signs on Kingsway Road near Unity Secondary School.
On Friday, 24 October 2025, the community lost a bright young learner, Thobile, after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road to school.
This tragedy could have been prevented. For years, the school and community leaders have appealed for traffic calming measures — but no action has been taken.
We demand immediate road safety intervention to protect our children and prevent future loss of life.
We call on:
Ekurhuleni Municipality
Benoni Metro Police Department
Gauteng Department of Education
to act now.
