Petition to Oppose Early Parole for Sergio Rodriguez
We are petitioning to prevent the early release of Sergio Rodriguez, who, on November 6, 2016, recklessly drove at 71 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone, striking Hailey King and her friend David while they were riding a scooter. This tragic incident left Hailey with fatal injuries and David trapped under Rodriguez’s truck, which he dragged for a mile as he attempted to evade responsibility by hiding his vehicle.
Hailey died hours later in the hospital, and David, after enduring the trauma of becoming a double amputee, succumbed to a blood clot two years later. Rodriguez was not apprehended for two days following this horrific event.
Initially facing serious charges, including second-degree murder, he accepted a plea deal resulting in a 17-year sentence for manslaughter, assault, and leaving the scene. Despite the severity of his actions, he has only served 8 years and is now eligible for early parole.
We, the undersigned, believe that Sergio Rodriguez showed a blatant disregard for human life and continues to pose a threat to our community. We urge you to sign this petition to ensure he remains behind bars, protecting innocent lives from potential harm.
