Morningside Community New Pool Rule Prohibiting Personal Flotation Devices

Dear Morningside Stakeholders,

This petition is in response to the March 6, 2025 Morningside board meeting line item number nine: "discuss pool rules and floats", as well as the email from Gulf Breeze Management dated March 9, 2025, stating new rules regarding personal flotation devices:

We, the frequent users of the pool amenity are requesting further discussion regarding the issue prior to implementation of this new rule.  This request is based on:

1. No documented rationale for, or supporting evidence of floatation devices disturbing pool usage.

2. No opportunity for solution focused pool community input.

3. No consideration of any other options than a total ban of floats, such as sending an email reminding persons using flotation devices to be sensitive to others movements toward entering the pool, no flotation devices near any ladder or steps, no floats if pool capacity reaches a certain number, etc. All of these alternatives could create a win-win opportunity.

4. Misrepresentation of the Board's plan to address the issue at the March 6 meeting I.e. the agenda indicated that the issue was up for discussion not for a vote.

5. Other pool rules that infringe on pool enjoyment are not monitored or enforced even with the installation of the expensive cameras, so, why is this issue a focal point?

6. The new rule smacks of board overreach, as it is both unilateral and and arbitrary.

I disagree with the unfair and unsubstantiated need for and implementation of the new pool flotation device rule.
