OBJECTION TO REZONING APPLICATION: ERF 527 MEREDALE EXTENSION 4

Stand with us the community of Merdale extension 4 in challenging the application for the rezoning of Erf 527
Meredale Extension 4 from "Residential 1" to "Residential 3" for the purpose of erecting 4 dwelling units.
This objection is submitted in terms of Section 33 of the City of Johannesburg Municipal Planning By-Law, 2016. As
residents of Meredale, We have a direct interest in the preservation of the neighbourhoods’ character, the adequacy
of infrastructure, and the maintenance of property values.
Meredale is established as a low-density residential suburb characterized by single-family dwellings
(Residential 1). The introduction of "Residential 3" (multi-unit apartments) is inconsistent with the existing
urban fabric of Berghaan Street. This densification will negatively impact the "sense of peace" and the
quiet and residential nature of the area.
