PETITION AGAINST DISCRIMINATION AND ABUSE OF AUTHORITY AT P.H.S
PETITION FOR LEARNER SAFETY, DIGNITY, AND NON-DISCRIMINATION
We, the undersigned learners of P.H.S, submit this petition to express serious concern regarding an incident involving educator conduct toward a learner.
On 27 January 2026, a learner who was assisting in de-escalating a conflict between younger learners was subjected to physical intimidation, verbal abuse, and discriminatory remarks by an educator. The learner was accused of being a sexual threat and was treated in a manner that was degrading, unsafe, and inconsistent with the values of our school.
We believe this incident raises broader concerns about:
-
Learner safety and emotional well-being
-
Discrimination based on sexual orientation
-
Abuse of authority by educators
-
The need for clear, respectful, and professional conduct toward all learners
South Africa’s Constitution guarantees dignity, equality, and freedom from discrimination. As learners, we have the right to feel safe and respected within our school environment.
We are not submitting this petition to attack any individual, but to request accountability, transparency, and preventative action to ensure that no learner is subjected to similar treatment in the future.
