PETITION OPPOSING BAIL FOR NCEBA MPAKALASANE
We, the undersigned members of the Joe Slovo Community, together with Buang Basadi, Sefora Ntombela Foundation, and Buang Banna Men's Forum, respectfully submit this petition to strongly oppose the granting of bail to Nceba Mpakalasane, who is accused of killing Sannah Mboya Mpakalasane on 26 February 2026.
As a community, we believe that this act was premeditated. It is known within the community that the accused spoke about harming the victim two weeks before the incident, which raises serious concerns that the crime was planned.
The accused has a long history of abusing the victim physically and emotionally, often doing so in front of her children. The abuse was widely known in the community and became so serious that community members previously chased him away because of his violent behavior towards Sannah Mboya Mpakalasane.
There are also reports of previous violent incidents involving the accused and his partners. It is alleged that his first wife died under violent circumstances, and that he stabbed another partner multiple times with a knife, though she survived the attack. These incidents show a pattern of violence against women.
For these reasons, we strongly believe that the accused poses a serious danger to the community, particularly to women, witnesses, and the victim’s family. Releasing him on bail may place the community at risk and may also interfere with the course of justice.
We therefore respectfully request that the Honourable Court deny bail to Nceba Mpakalasane and ensure that he remains in custody while the matter is being investigated and prosecuted.
This petition is submitted in the interest of justice, safety, and the protection of women and children in our community.
