PETITION TO REPLACE MISSING TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND TRAFFIC SIGNS WARD 83
The City of Tshwane is failing to properly maintain traffic lights and other essential traffic signs in Ward 83 as well as the rest of the City. This failure has already lead to several serious and even fatal accidents.
In Ward 83 alone there are several traffic lights that were not replaced after being damaged in vehicle collisions.
The ones that are outstanding for long include, but are not limeted to;
· Cnr Garsfontein and Mantis Rd
· Cnr Garsfontein and Lois Rd – two poles
· Cnr Garsfontein and January Masilela Rd
· Cnr Nossob and Jochemus Str
· Cnr Delmas and Nossob – two poles
Traffic lights have also not being repaired on Solomon Mahlangu Rd at intersections of Lois and January Masilela.
Further to traffic lights, many warning signs such as chevrons, have never been replaced. Many vehicle accidents have been caused by this lack of legally obligated signage.
The most notorious is possible cnr Rubenstein and Rutgers street, Moreletapark, while several other streets are also severely affected by missing signage and absent road markings.
The lack of maintenance of traffic lights and road signage is exacerbated by the lack of maintenance of street lights. The residents of this ward cannot be further exposed to unnecessary and preventable dangers caused by the lack of service delivery by the City of Tshwane.
We the undersigned demand that the missing traffic lights and signage be replaced and that they are maintained as required from the City of Tshwane by law.
