Protect Truckers Parking Rights

Fellow Residents of Rio Dell,

My name is Jose Flores, owner of a small trucking company in our town. I’m reaching out to ask for your support in addressing an important issue that affects local businesses and hard-working community members: the proposed relocation of semi-truck parking.

The city’s traffic board has suggested moving truck parking from Main Street to Northwest Avenue, claiming safety concerns. While safety is crucial, this decision was made without considering the impact on truckers and local businesses. Parking farther away increases risks of theft, disrupts operations for distributors like lumber businesses, and places a financial burden on small trucking companies.

For many of us, parking near home ensures safety and rest after long workdays. Relocating trucks would harm not only us but also the community’s economy. I urge Rio Dell residents to come together to find a fair solution that supports truckers and our town’s businesses.
