RECALL SENATOR KAREN NYAMU

I, Hon Anthony Kiragu Karanja, a Nairobian, MCA Waithaka Ward and Nairobi City County Assembly Minority Leader, am launching this petition to demand the immediate recall of Senator Karen Nyamu due to her recent actions that have undermined the integrity of her office and tarnished the dignity of the Senate, Nairobi and all of Kenya and its people. Senator Nyamu’s conduct, both in public and in private, has been provocative and controversial, often engaging in inflammatory rhetoric and behavior that contradicts the core values expected from state officers. Senator Karen Nyamu has consistently demonstrated DISRESPECT for the people, brought DISHONOUR to the nation and failed to promote confidence in the integrity of the office she holds. It begs the question on her ability to effectively represent the people of Kenya.

The Constitution of Kenya states Article 73: - “(1) Authority assigned to a State officer-- (a) is a public trust to be exercised in a manner that-- (i) is consistent with the purposes and objects of this Constitution; (ii) demonstrates respect for the people; (iii) brings honour to the nation and dignity to the office; and (iv) promotes public confidence in the integrity of the office; and (b) vests in the State officer the responsibility to serve the people, rather than the power to rule them.”

Based on the above, this petition calls for the immediate recall of her nomination as a Senator in order to protect the integrity of the Senate, Nairobi and Kenya at large, uphold public trust, and ensure that leaders serve with honor and responsibility. By signing this petition, we demand that appropriate actions be taken to hold Senator Nyamu accountable for her conduct and to safeguard the values of leadership and integrity in our country.
