Road Naming Petition in Honor of Catrice Winns
Petition to the Georgetown County Legislative Delegation
We, the undersigned residents and supporters of Georgetown County, respectfully request the official naming of the road currently known as:
Current Road Name / Location: Ritch Lane, Georgetown, SC 29440
Proposed New Name: Catrice Lane
This naming is intended to honor the memory and legacy of Catrice Winns, an 8-year old child from Georgetown County who tragically lost her life on June 18, 2002, after being struck by a car while riding her bicycle from the park. Her story is aheartbreaking reminder of the importance of road safety near parks and residential areas. Naming Ritch Lane in her honor will promote awareness, advocate for safer streets, and serve as a lasting tribute to a beloved child whose life touched many.
Naming this road in her honor would serve not only as a memorial to her life, but also as a reminder to drivers and residents of the importance of vigilance, care, and community responsibility. We believe this is a meaningful and lasting tribute to a young life gone too soon, and a call to protect others in her memory.
