It’s the right thing to do, those who put into the pot should have access to the pot.

It will be important to support the temporary visa holders as they have limited access to financing from financial institutions and they do also pay tax which is assisting the Government of Australia.

I‘m signing because I have been living and working in Australia for one and a half years. I have built up a superfund which will be charged upon my exit out of the country. Due to the current circumstances and being a hospitality worker I am out of work due to shutdowns and am having difficulty finding another job. Any sort of clear word from the government would be really helpful. Though I don’t expect any type of ‚payout‘ it would be nice to at least have the option to take out a loan which usually isn’t possible as a temporary resident.

Australia is a global country with multicultural values. We are propped up constantly by international students (our second biggest industry) and migrants working in jobs for potentially lower pay. In this COVID-19 crisis when flights out of Australia are scarce to none and lots of countries are closing their borders it is imperative that we help those most vulnerable who are calling this country home.

Hannah Brady (Melbourne, 2020-03-29)

#4856

I'm signing because I am on a 417 visa. I got let go from my job and have no way to financially support myself and cannot get home as it is not safe to do so. I understand the hardship at the moment and aussie citizens need to be looked after first but we should be given early acess to our super. That is Our money and if I don't get help I will be homeless in 1 month

As a australiano resident for tax purposes I believe is our right, at least, to be able to access our superannuation during this worldwide financial crise.
We chose Australia to live for many reasons. But for the past month, watching the government ignore our existence and necessities is been disappointing.

Let us access OUR money to make through this time.

This is a difficult situation for international people in Australia. We can no go back to our countries and we need support to survive and cover our basic needs.
Even though we never receive any benefit from Australian government we pay taxes as much as a national so in a situation like this Australia should treat us as iqual for the first time.

Andres Umbacia (Melbourne , 2020-03-29)

#4946

I'm signing because my friends who live here, work here, pay taxes and are hoping to apply for PR here won't receive any financial support from the government during this crazy time and given the taxes they pay....that seems very unfair.

I am a Canadian citizen currently on a working holiday visa in Australia. I purchased my round trip flight on February __, long before the unprecedented COVID 19 outbreak. The intent was to go home for leisure, and return 1 month later for a job a had secured here in Western Australia. Once the global pandemic began rising and international borders began to close, I realized that if I go back to Canada, I would not be able to return to Australia until this virus had blown over. I then could not justify risking my secure job to fly overseas, while also potentially putting myself at risk of contracting the virus during my travels. Now with the growing unemployment rate and locking down of most/ if not all non-essential services; I’ve lost my job and am now stranded with no income, no government assistance, and no where to stay. I thank you for the opportunity to receive an airline credit, as in due time I’m certain I will eventually make it back home, but at this time- an airline credit will not help me through this terrifying time.
I need help.

Danielle Schofield (Perth, 2020-03-30)

As an ESL teacher, I see firsthand the contribution that my students make to our country, doing jobs that others won't do, working tirelessly, enriching our country, spending their money here, getting their educations here. They deserve some certainty and support in this horrible time.
