An experienced Hunter is far less likely to need assistance than a mountain biker or surfer

hadyn james (Wellington, 2020-04-16)

#3

I think the current legislation is contradicting and very unfair...

Connor Mackie (Dunedin, 2020-04-16)

#4

The fact we will allow other recreational activities that pose substantially more risk such as swimming or mountain biking is absolutely ridiculous

Cameron Strange (Nelson , 2020-04-16)

I think people should be able to hunt!!

Tara Mulvany (Te Anau, 2020-04-16)

#22

I believe that experienced hunters are no more a risk than any of the other permitted activities under Level 3, e.g. tramping, fishing.

Nigel Wilson (Rangiora, 2020-04-17)

#26

I hunt to fill my freezer and to feed family during these hard time the only affordable way to fill the freezer in hunting.

Gareth Jones (Hokitika , 2020-04-17)

#29

Need some more meat in the freezer

Joel Galbraith (Napier, 2020-04-17)

#30

I believe hunting in a safe manner can be done without causing harm and poses less of a chance of injury and the need for rescue services than the likes of surfing and land based fishing.

Toby Evans (Dunedin, 2020-04-17)

#31

I want to be able to continue to hunt and provide ethical free range meat for my family

Chris Hurren (Morrinsville, 2020-04-17)

#32

Hunting is essential

Josh Vater (Hanmersprings, 2020-04-17)

#34

This is safer than other activities listed as ok under level 3, double standards as more people injured doing mountain biking than hunting etc....
This is not ok and feel the government has let us down as hunter / gathers

Bevan Berge (ROTORUA , 2020-04-17)

#35

I agree with what is proposed above.

Angus Meads (Palmerston north, 2020-04-17)

#38

The decision to ban hunting at Alert Level 3 is illogical given that it is safer than some of the other recreational activities that New Zealanders will be allowed to do. Licenced firearms owners are deeply frustrated that the Government appears to have singled them out yet again. There are multiple activities that are statistically more dangerous that are allowed under the current Covid-19 level 3 restrictions, such as mountain biking, swimming, surfing and tramping.

Mitch Parnwell (Blenheim , 2020-04-17)

#41

Having other options such as ‘day walks in Bush’ is utter bullshit when I can’t go hunt to provide for my household in a safe matter. Stop trying to take this unique privilege away from us.

Sam Allan (Ashburton , 2020-04-17)

#43

Im signing because i fully agree with everything said above. Read the stats on those other recreational activities compared to hunting. Stats are facts...

Daniel Clifton (Rongotea, 2020-04-17)

Brent Dawes (Timaru, 2020-04-17)

#67

People rely on the animals we hunt for food

James Edgerley (Ashburton , 2020-04-17)

#70

I love hunting so let us out

Tainui Miller (Dunedin , 2020-04-17)

#75

I'm signing this petition because the Govt seems to have yet again failed at using logic & fact, & instead embraced sensationalism & emotive doom to single out licensed firearms owners.

C Bullen (Auckland, 2020-04-17)

#77

We all deserve equal rights, the other activities that are aloud are a lot more dangerous and risky.

Brad Ramsay (Taupo, 2020-04-17)

#79

Im signing because this its only fair to allow people who are capable to be able to enjoy their pass time. As we all know the benefits of hunting far outweigh any other recreational sport and only those with no hunting interest are against it. It serves to keep people fit and active, it aids in mental health and provides food for families, it also helps maintain the population of these animals without the use of 1080 or other poisons & costs. The hatred for the hunting community has gone on long enough, its time we were allowed to enjoy a heathy hobby without the hate and misconception that goes with it.

Shey Malcolm (Tauranga, 2020-04-17)

#80

Hunting is a safe activity

Anthony Taylor (Newport, 2020-04-17)

I hunt for food
It’s essential to me

Sam Welsh (Timaru, 2020-04-17)

#84

Hunting is safer then swimming and mountain biking ete and to be singled out saying it is unsafe with out looking at the facts is completely unfair

Thomas Mckay (Dunedin , 2020-04-17)

#85

I have farm hunting at my back door. Pigs still make a mess of farm paddocks even in lockdown

Me and my 15 year old daughter our bubble .. get exercise and get meat for our family .. our working dogs need work to .. this is a crucial part of our lives

ken Moody (Taupo, 2020-04-17)

#98

I'm signing because it's ridiculous that I can go to a building site where I work or mountain biking, both of which are far more dangerous than hunting and yet we're being told that hunting is supposedly a higher risk. The stats show otherwise and I for one, do not feel I'll be in the right frame of mind to return to a building site full of other blokes after being locked down at home for a month. Hunting is where I get my mind right.

Jezreel Pritchard (Christchurch, 2020-04-17)

#102

I have common sence even if this government believes I don't

Glen James (Tauranga, 2020-04-17)

#107

I hunt to feed my family and also as a major form of exercise physically and mentally.

Bowen Mcpike (Auckland , 2020-04-17)

#112

I believe Men & Women that have experience in hunting should be allowed. The points that Brooke Jenkins has outlined are appropriate and should be acceptable.

Todd Kelly (Dunedin , 2020-04-17)

#114

My hunting is confined to the boundaries of the farming property that I live on. How dangerous is that?

Pat Lambert (Fielding, 2020-04-17)

#115

My husband is an experienced hunter and we need more meat for our freezer

Joan Ryder (Tauranga, 2020-04-17)

#118

I'm signing because..
Hunting can be safely accomplished in any chosen region.. if you are experienced and adhere to the set rules.. and use general common sence.

This wouldn't apply to anyone deciding to take up a new hobby.
Maybe it's set as a day trip only type.. as to restrict possible injury in the back blocks requiring safely services.

We've lived our lives hunting and gathering.. and in these very financial times, I see this as very neccessary.

Kind regards .
Caleb Dann.

Caleb Dann (Twizel , 2020-04-17)

pest control is a huge part of my income

Brad Gill (timaru, 2020-04-17)

#125

Due to the number of benefits solo local hunting brings to the table, over 30yrs experience with no help ever needed, I consider the average hunter very concientious and careful, that's my 2 cents 😊

Joel Aagesen (Eketahuna , 2020-04-17)

#127

I am a hunter my self and think if you can go surfing and fishing off the shore etc you should well be aloud to hunt.

Manu Roberts (Dunedin , 2020-04-17)

#130

Its ridiculous to exclude hunting and the ability to put food in my table given the activities that have been allowed

#147

I’m a hunter

Ollie Sinclair (Dunedin, 2020-04-17)

#149

Because I am a pig hunter and all my hunting is done local in golden bay Takaka I hunt a lot of private farms in winter time to keep the pigs off the pasture and winter crops as pigs get into these and do a lot of damage which in a lot of sense is more pest control than hunting itself !! I had requests to do this already in lockdown so now's the time to be going if this isn't changed then I will probably go anyway because it's starting to become a joke

Blake Cottle (Takaka, 2020-04-17)

#152

I am a hunter!

Craig Maaka (Milton, 2020-04-17)

#180

Ben really wants to go hunting

Chloe Kay (Dunedin , 2020-04-17)

#181

Allowing mountain biking, surfing and tramping but not a day hunt with a rifle is absolutely ridiculous!!
Not suggesting multi day hunts in different zones. But being able to travel up to 100km by road to go for a day hunt with people in your bubble is extremely low risk. This is how people like myself get meat for my family. Under level 4 it was acceptable to stop all hunting but under level 3 we should be allowing single day in zone excursion.
To be a fair and kind government you need to allow people their basic human right to hunt and gather their food. To do otherwise is tyrrany.

Brendan Johnson (Oxford, 2020-04-17)

#183

I would like some meat for my family and some mental and physical challenge.

I want to fill my freezer. I have gone to 80% wages which is a kick in the teeth by itself but now I have to buy meat too on this reduced wage too which puts an extra $100 minimum per week on my grocery bill.

#199

I'm a hunter and need to feed my family

James Grimstone (Hamilton , 2020-04-18)

#200

It is unfair how tramping, surfing and swimming are allowed yet an activity that evidently has less risk of death/accident is not being allowed. Hunters are responsible people, and shouldn’t be punished for wanting to do something they love.
