Ask the West Nodaway R-1 Board of Education to grant Camryn Brady's appeals to remain in the A+ Program and go on senior trip.

#1201

Institutions meant to help and educate should believe when people are in pain and accommodate reasonable demands like this.

Adam Leier (Los Angeles, 2023-01-23)

#1202

Im signing because she deserves to go on that trip , her hard work and dedication deserves to be seen ! I hope she’s doing well and I hope she can go to her senior trip

Kirsten Peters (Irving , 2023-01-23)

#1203

Because Camryn deserves to go on the trip it’s a once in a life time opportunity and it’s not her fault she missed school and it’s not fair that she doesn’t get to go due to something she literally can’t control.

Deven Hill (Hoquiam , 2023-01-23)

#1205

helping hand

Mikey Boykin (Atlanta , 2023-01-23)

#1208

Regardless of her reasoning for absences (WHICH ARE PLENTY) — she is a teen girl trying to return to a normal life, and recover from traumatic situations. Have a heart, go touch some grass, and let her go on that dang senior trip!!

Zoey Scott (Spokane, 2023-01-23)

#1210

A school punishing a girl for circumstances she can’t control is absolutely disgusting. to not allow her to go on the senior trip and get kicked out of the A+ club even when she’s been completely caught up with all her work? so gross and something needs to be done about it. This school board should be ashamed of themselves.

Devon Russell (Spartanburg , 2023-01-23)

#1211

This school is stupid for even thinking about doing this to this poor girl!!!

Casey Hughey (Summerfield , 2023-01-23)

#1215

Camryn deserves better treatment from her school! I hope that medical emergencies outside of her control won’t affect her ability to enjoy the rest of her senior year, with the support she deserves from her school!

Kylie Lofton (College Station, 2023-01-23)

#1217

Brandy should not be discriminated against because of health issues. That is against the law!

Jill Smith (St. Joe, 2023-01-23)

#1220

I think it so very unfair. This young lady has obviously done all her work, and was gone because she was ILL. To punish her for an act she has no control of is unfair.

Tommie Cox (Shambaugh , 2023-01-23)

#1224

When I was in high school i went through several surgeries and had to fight to graduate. I feel for this girl on what she is going through. She couldn't help her health kept her from Physically going to school, but she kept her grades up and did the homework. Your only in high school once let her have the time on her senior trip she deserves the memories with her class.

Shelby Siekmann (Sibley, 2023-01-23)

#1226

My daughter has special needs and had been discriminated against in the sjsd her entire 4 years of high school. Always had to take finals because she had to miss for doctor appointments to get life saving meds. Children’s Mercy Social Worker even wrote the school and told them they had to see her every 3 months in KC and only option was during school hours. The school didn’t care. I hate the red tape our special needs kids go through (or sick kids). I hope you win!

Debra Walker (Saint Joseph, 2023-01-23)

#1227

I’m signing because camryn needs justice and she needs to be on the A+ program because it’ll help with a lot of things in college. Another thing is to go on senior trip along with her classmates she has done just enough for that school and she deserves to go on the trip just as much as everyone else does she has been through a lot for the past couple years and that just shows how much she would appreciate going on the trip! I would sign any and every petition for her to get through high school and college she deserves it!

Shania Wilson (Hermitage , 2023-01-23)

#1231

It is the right thing to do.

Anita Nielson Vestering (Cheney, 2023-01-23)

#1233

It’s unfair!

Beckie v (St Pete , 2023-01-23)

#1235

Her medical procedure should be excused and if approved she is well enough to go join her peers as scheduled with all school activities. Including prom and all senior trips or activities and also remain in the A+ program.

Brandi Shively (Maryville, 2023-01-23)

#1236

We try so hard to teach our children to persevere through hard things- don’t quit…
This is a great example, I feel like she has done just that.
She has kept up with her school work, maintained good grades, and a variety of other responsibilities for extra curricular activities all while dealing with her health issues.
This is an example of hard work and perseverance the school and the community should be proud of this young lady.

Andrea Armfield (Union Star, 2023-01-23)

#1238

This girl cannot help what she has been through. Senior trip is a memory she should be able to carry with her for the rest of her life.

Kelli Malone (Gilman City, 2023-01-23)

#1239

It’s unfair not to include her ! She’s a senior ! It’s her last year!!

Stephanie Powers (Tecumseh, 2023-01-23)

#1240

This seems horribly unfair and reeks of ableism. This young woman has faced much adversity and continued to work hard and she is being punished because she didn’t meet attendance requirements beyond her control. This is not fair at all.

Melissa Brown (De Soto, 2023-01-23)

#1244

I don’t believe she should be punished and forced to miss out her trip. I’m sure there are other students that demonstrate far worse actions and that’s where the attention of these (powers that be)people should be focused. Choose your battles people!! Use common sense she sounds like a descent young lady who has had several struggles. Maybe she should be encouraged not discouraged. Who does it hurt if she stays in A+ and goes on her senior trip. Will it have a negative effect on anyone if she goes, is she dangerous to others, is she disruptive, does her going mean someone else doesn’t get to. There are so many worse things in this world concentrate on controlling those things and quit acting like dictators instead of people who should be encouraging students instead of condemning them

Jennifer Dennis (Savannah, MO, 2023-01-23)

#1245

The situation of an exceptional student is very unfair.
We hope that the R-1 board of education will reconsider and do the rigth thing.

Miguel Angel Mielgo Gonzalo (Aviles-Asturias, 2023-01-23)

#1246

I was in her school for many years and she’s an amazing kid.❤️

Lilly Elm (Greeley, 2023-01-23)

#1248

This is the typical "We gotta go by the book" attitude schools now have. What happened to Compassion, Empathy, and good old Common Sense? This is obviously a situation that requires a Common Sense approach and review.

Michael Bowlin (Polk City, 2023-01-23)

#1252

If you are a senior student and are graduating you deserve a trip with your classmates.

Cynthia White (Maitland, 2023-01-24)

#1254

I'm signing this because i believe its morally wrong what they did.to her and i hope to change that.

Demari Johnson (New Orleans, 2023-01-24)

#1255

I wanna help

Mason Jackson (New Orleans , 2023-01-24)

#1256

This young lady merits better, She had to endure something that could have potentially killed her, and all the school is concerned with is how often she has been absent. I find it quite unprofessional for them to remove her from activities that could aid her in the future.

Ja'Nyren Smith (New Orleans, LA, 2023-01-24)

#1261

I’m signing because I believe this teen should be allowed to participate in the A+ program and senior trip. Not allowing her to participate seems petty and arbitrary.

Rose Farnan (Mission, 2023-01-24)

#1268

I am signing because is a rare case that should lead others to not give up and pursue all good things that life has to offer. It should be an example to other administrators to do what is right and just. God bless, there are great things in her future!

Johnson Marilyn (Saint Joseh, 2023-01-24)

#1274

Camryn did not have any control over what happened to her. The school administration should not be allowed to deny her anything. She deserves all of the things she rightfully worked for.

Gabby Comer (St Joseph, 2023-01-25)

#1277

This is absolutely ridiculous. Once again schools punishing students for something out of their control! They should be ashamed of themselves.

Victoria Jordan (Tarkio, 2023-01-25)

#1280

Unreal!! Another school board and superintendent on a power trip.

Brandon Burns (Saint Joseph, 2023-01-25)

#1281

I’m signing this because I believe she should go on her senior trip!!!!!!!!!

Andrea Thiemann (Skidmore, 2023-01-25)

#1282

Principals shouldn’t be able to go back and change what a former principal has agree upon. She had severe problems with her stomach and needed the help and surgeries.

Melody McGinness (Elmo, 2023-01-25)

#1283

This school should be ashamed for prioritizing an attendance record over the health and well-being of a student, especially when they have shown that they are excelling otherwise. Honestly***** off - she has been through enough.

Madison Uhlrich (Champaign, 2023-01-25)

#1285

She deserves to go. No question.

Deirdre Dino (Clarinda, 2023-01-25)

#1287

This young lady has worked hard her entire high school career and has a record that anyone would be proud of. No one should be penalized for medical issues that can't be controlled.

Shannon Snuffer (Jamesport, 2023-01-25)

#1288

She deserves what she’s worked hard for!

Sarah Vernet (St. Joseph, 2023-01-25)

#1289

This school board is completely out of line! They say one thing in their handbook and do another in school. I am also a senior and if this every happened to me I would do anything I can to make it right!

Kelsie Clark (Maysville, 2023-01-25)

#1294

I’m signing because the district is messing with this young girls future due to circumstances beyond her control. She deserves to remain in the A+ program and go on her field trip.

Jennifer Clark (Saint Joseph, 2023-01-25)

#1295

Because as somebody who suffers from breathing disabilities. I can relate to getting punished for things out of your control. It’s unbelievably unfair. I hope this student gets better. And gets to experience some worry free fun.

Maryssa Lane (Maryville , 2023-01-25)

#1296

This bright and determined girl shouldn’t be punished for medical conditions out of her control! Despite her medical complications, she still maintained her school studies that most students would have given up on. Please don’t punish her more than her body and those doctors already did!

Jennifer Bransfield (Saint Joseph, 2023-01-25)

#1299

This is an amazing student that had/has serious health issues! Her education should not be impacted negatively at all!!!! Shame on those that denied her appeals!

Jen Madinger (Saint Joseph, 2023-01-25)

#1304

This is a young that with all she has gone through has kept her grades up and instead of being praised for it she is being punished for being sick ashamed that is how the school system works

Juanita Lonjers (St Joseph , 2023-01-25)

#1307

This girl has done above and beyond what has been expected of her while battling health issues that would take out an adult. The girl has not been skipping school for fun all absences are well documented. Do not punish her for things beyond her control.

Amanda Pflugradt (Saint Joseph , 2023-01-25)

#1308

This young lady deserves to participate in the activities.

Christy Price (Tucson , 2023-01-25)

#1310

This child deserves every right to remain in the A+ program and attend her senior trip. You cant predict health problems of this magnatude just like you cant predict a death or premature birth or appendix bursting. She has put in the hard work all four years and is now being denied the rewards for her hard work. SHAME ON YOU WEST NODAWAY R-1 BOARD OF EDUCATION!

Janette Solomon (Amity, 2023-01-25)

#1312

This poor girl has been through so much and still kept good grades.

NATALIE COTTER (St joseph, 2023-01-25)

#1313

No student, especially one with such outstanding credentials, should be punished for healthcare problems that were obviously out of their control. Let this young woman enjoy her senior year she has obviously suffered enough.

Cassandra Lull (Forest City, 2023-01-25)

#1315

She deserves to be rewarded for all her hard work. This set-back of illnesses should not make her ineligible. Please do the right thing for this very gifted young lady!

Lori Orrick (Saint Joseph, 2023-01-26)

#1316

I feel every child deserves a second chance and you can't control health issues

Tracie Newby (Saint Joseph , 2023-01-26)

#1317

Appeals to school rules are MADE for situations like this young woman’s. She has missed more than the allowed days, but not because she was unmotivated to come to school, her reasons were unavoidable. In addition, her commitment to her education continued. Her grades are still excellent, she has fulfilled the requirements for the A+ program and held officership positions in school clubs. This is EXACTLY the person whose appeal should be granted.

Kappy Hodges (St Joseph, 2023-01-26)

#1320

This is not right, instead of denying this young woman’s appeal the school board should be helping this young woman in any way they can.

Christie Petersen (Sheridan , 2023-01-26)

#1324

I am a WN alumna and believe that medical conditions should not prohibit a student from participating in the program and trip. Small communities usually support students and their needs, so this punitive decision doesn't reflect well for my former school district. Unfortunately, I have taught in a district where the superintendent didn't allow 504 plans. That definitely shows a lack of compassion for students' needs.

Angela (Hull) Miller (Bluffton , 2023-01-27)

#1326

Camryn does not deserve to miss out on A+ hours plus her senior trip for clearly documented medical reasons.

Chandra Callow (Platte City, 2023-01-27)

#1327

This young lady has proven herself worthy of her academics by maintaining her grades and dealing the hand she's been dealt with her health. Punishing her by taking what she's worked so hard for is ridiculous. The hand she's been dealt is a life long punishment all in itself. Let her have what she's worked so hard for. I wish you all the best in this outcome.

Cheryl Horseman (Maitland , 2023-01-27)

#1332

S he should be treated fairly

Ruth Adwell (Ravenwood, 2023-01-28)

#1337

Not sure why she isn't being excused when her absences are clearly excusable according to the hand book you provided . She had no choice in her absences, due to medical conditions. Be the kind of people who are compationate, caring, honest & who do the RIGHT thing. You are supposed to be examples for all children of what we are asking of you. Brandy deserves to be granted this appeal. She is not a student who has just been in class, she is one who has been recognized & honored for achievements. Please do what is good, kind & right thing, PLEASE. Don't ruin her memories of high school for her, please.

Glenda Hurst (Bedford , 2023-01-28)

#1338

West Nodaway R-1 Board of Education should do the right thing, the compassionate thing and grant her appeals.

Juli Coppersmith (Omaha, 2023-01-28)

#1340

This young lady did everything she could, despite the challenges she faced. She shouldn't be punished for health issues, she deserves to have the same opportunities as everyone else!

Jessica Larkin (St. Joseph, 2023-01-28)

#1346

I feel for this girl I hope she gets to go on Senior trip.

Ashley Rowlen (Cameron , 2023-01-29)

#1347

She should remain on the program because she has put in the work regardless of the medical she has gone through.

Katrina Roach (Saint Joseph , 2023-01-29)

#1348

I don’t approve of attendance policies that penalize a student for excused absences. This poor girl wasn’t out shopping or just skipping school, she had major health issues that had to be dealt with.

Sarah Svoboda (Graham, 2023-01-29)

#1349

it is extremely unfair to hold absences verified by a doctor against any student. I don’t understand why any school would keep a student from qualifying for these things when a doctor has verified the train for her absences.

Cindy Roach (Maryville, 2023-01-30)

#1350

Health must be top priority. She made smart choices.

KALEE WOOD (OVERLAND PARK, 2023-01-30)

#1353

As a previous senior I would have been disappointed by my school to be told that due to things out of my control I could not attend senior trip which is a huge part of your senior year and a great time to spend with your class and become closer as friends

Justice Ivy (Hopkins, 2023-01-30)

#1357

I grew up in NW Missouri and attended South Nodaway High School. I have also been a public school teacher for 25 years. This student shows dedication to her academics, extracurricular activities and leadership skills that most students are unable to do with no health issues. She deserves the same privileges as other seniors. The school should be applauding her accomplishments through the adversity she has faced during her HS career.

Amanda Frazier (Lebanon, 2023-01-31)

#1358

No student should be penalized for medical issues beyond their control, especially if they show the dedication and hard work to stay caught up despite the circumstances!

Bailey Pardee (Excelsior Springs, 2023-01-31)

#1359

They have doctors notes for something out of their control

Chris Jung (saint joseph, 2023-02-01)

#1361

This girl cannot help any other complications that she’s had. With nodoway need to do the right thing.

Skylar Allen (St. Joseph, 2023-02-03)

#1364

This girl has been through so much!

Alexis Durr (Overland Park, 2023-02-03)

#1371

I feel this student is being denied through no fault of her own. I can't believe she is being denied over something which she had no control over

Marilyn Ripple (Gallatin, 2023-02-03)

#1372

This is very upsetting. This young lady could not help she had medical issues preventing her from attending classes. This is pure discrimination and unfair treatment!

Hope Robinson (Chicago, 2023-02-03)

#1375

I'm signing because this young lady has suffered enough already. She's obviously a highly revered individual to not only be involved in a wide variety of school groups but also to hold high positions in most of these activities. Had her grades slipped or her absences weren't warranted, this would be a different discussion altogether. But they haven't, they are and it isn't.

Heather Simmerman (Stanberry, 2023-02-03)

#1376

Things need to change and she deserves this

Janelle Yapi (Skidmore, 2023-02-04)

#1377

This is super sad

John Jacobs (27603, 2023-02-06)

#1378

What the school has does is truly sickening. Schools should help propel students instead of taking away such good opportunities. I hope no more students will have to deal with these opportunities be taken away from them so unjustly

April Lopez (Loris , 2023-02-09)

#1379

It was brought to my attention and I support the cause.

Summre Smith (McDonough , 2023-02-12)

#1380

Because children shouldn’t have to justify anything to the education system that tries to victim blame! Do better

Jeremy Maldonado (Los Angeles , 2023-02-15)

#1381

I’m signing because you shouldn’t strip something away from someone that was earned through hard work and dedication due to circumstances that are out of their control. Y’all should be ashamed of yourselves.

Rachel Potter (Roanoke, 2023-02-15)

#1383

As a parent of two students who also had medical issues with supporting documentation while in high school and completing the A+ program, I can understand what Camryn has endured. Continuing to keep her grades at the eligibility level all while dealing with medical issues is to be commended. She did not chose to have medical issues but made the most of her situation. If there is medical documentation, those days should be approved and her A+ awarded to her as she earned it. This is a state program. It only helps the appearance of the school district have another student achieve success in the A+ program.

Senior trip is an activity that all students look forward to and work towards for years. That trip is the last time the class will be together as one. They celebrate their pending graduation and all the memories they have made together since kindergarten before setting out into the real world as adults.

As a graduate of West Nodaway, I am disappointed that we would not take care of one of our students by helping them pursue their dream to further their education and celebrate their high school commencement with their senior trip. To those that hold Camryn’s future in their hands, do the right things and grant the appeal. This could have been your child, grandchild, niece or nephew and I’m sure you fight for them as Brandy is for her daughter.

Dawn Parshall-Leeker (Belton, 2023-02-20)

#1384

I am signing this petition because I support patient care.

Denise Bonds (Detroit, 2023-02-20)

#1385

This girl should not be punished for anything out of her control. Her accomplishments testify to her ‘do not quit’ attitude. You know that she achieved all of these while in pain. We need more kids like her & more parents like hers.

Sue Martin (Dearborn, 2023-02-23)

#1388

I think what is happening to her is unfair and I think she has worked very hard and deserves to be aco

Ruby Mellenthin (Wood River, 2023-04-16)

#1389

I'm signing this as I'm a parent and my child has went through the same but with a different school district.
Our kids work so hard and never ask to get sick or have major medical problems that are out of their hands.
Things need to change. Especially when it comes to any medical problems. This kids shouldn't be punished because of her medical issues. She worked hard to get where she is at! And to take that away is not helping her or showing others that if you have medical problems that is out of your hands you get punished for it.
I fought for my child and glad you are fighting for her!! I wish Camryn all the best to you!

Dawn Cline (Polo, 2023-04-29)
