Parking Reform in Rotorua's CBD

I own a bike shop in town. The aggressiveness of the parking wardens drives customers from our store and leaves visitors with a bad taste in their mouth. We've got a meter out the front of the store that is not operational half the time and yet the wardens still are handing out infringement notices. This heavy handedness kills the commerce in town.

Prices are rediculous we park here every day for work. We are a public service and should not have to be paying let alone parking fines.

I believe the old system and don't believe in extra charges if you have to use your credit card.. Also if machines are not working you shouldn't have to walk to find a working machine.

I work at a health care centre in town , there should be free parking provided for our low socioeconomic community . A number of times these machines have not worked using my card as well as coins . Also had a number issues with the app decking my card yet there is money on my card .

Also as a health centre we were not impress when trying to get a permit for the park building, the response was very slow , my manager had issues when making contact to discuss this matter and no one could help . Poor service

I have had at least 5 encounters with non working parking metres and have phone the iPark office each time, only to be directed to a different metre which in most cases, doesn't work either. Customer service at iPark is utterly appalling, unsympathetic and reiterates many times that I am required to pay, despite the fact that I can't because of the meter not working.

I own 2 big retail stores in town and i am already finding the foot traffic is down 50 percent compared to pre covid and now at a time when the economy is struggling and the cost of living at an all time high more and more retail businesses will see less and less foot traffic and be forced to close or move to another town.

I agree with ALL 4 points of the solutions that we would like investigated. Especially we should have limited free parking. As a Rotorua born Senior Citizen who takes pride in Rotorua City, I am constantly frustrated by receiving parking tickets e.g. when I have been back to my car only FIVE MINUTES after the allocated time. Not enough information is given for residents and visitors to Rotorua of the so called rules surrounding the parking system administered by iPARK.
