SRD GRANT UNFAIRLY DECLINED
SOCIAL RELIEF OF DISTRESS GRANT RESULTED IN STRESS
( President together with social development minister promised people to receive unemployment grant due to lockdown because of the COVID 19 Pandemic. People were promised to get R350 per month for six months starting from May 2020)
MAY JUNE AND JULY APPLICATIONS:
Applications for Social Relief of Distress Grants (SRD) in May the outcome resulted in two groups, there was the one that was declined for unreasonable reasons ( UIF REGISTERED, IRP5 REGISTERED, NSFAS REGISTERED etc) even for people who who never worked before or attended Universities, while the other group was approved and given PAYDAYS to receive their money (R350) for May to received June. June and July outcomes SASSA issued them together in July meaning mean no Applications where Approved in June, the outcomes divided the May Approved group into three groups, a newly Declined group, a group that is approved for both June and July but not given Paydays for those two months and the last group was approved and given double (June and July) Payday meaning that group received R700 in July while there other Approved group don't receive any payment because they are not given Paydays by SASSA.
AUGUST APPLICATIONS
We now came in August having three groups Declined, Approved but only had payday for May meaning they have only received one R350 for the past three months and the last group that has been approved and got Paydays for all past three months. All this is happening causing STRESS for people during time where people are busy fight the COVID 19 Pandemic.
All these three groups their Application status for August started all in Pending, giving people hopes that they will all received their Grants not knowing they are waiting for huge disappointment. August was a worse month for this SRD Grant, it has been Pending till September meaning there was no Applications Approved in August, bare in mind that there is still a group that only received payment for May because June and July there is no paydays now it's September no payments, once SASSA started to release outcomes of August status to these Applications the outcomes resulted into five groups.
First group their August status change from Pending to Approved but no Payday is issued to these Applications meaning the applicants won't receive their Grants. This group have two Sub-groups, the one who have been been paid for MAY JUNE AND JULY A(R1050) while the other one has only been paid for MAY (R350) June and July no paydays meaning SASSA is expecting these people to buy food with just one R350 for more than four months, meaning now they have June July and August Approved stutas but no paydays (no money).
Second group their August status change from Pending to Approved with paydays which were dates of September month. This group also have two Sub-groups, the one that has already received R1050 and the one that is still waiting for R700 for June and July paydays. This raised questions and confusion on how can SASSA issue people with only Payday for August while there are still outstanding paydays for June and July, now these applicants have received May payments and jump to receive August payment without getting June and July Payments.
Third group is the group that was on Declined who found their status being Approved for the first after they were Declined for three months, which also raised a lot of questions how these Applications were Declined and out of the suddenly they are approved without any change in the state of income for these applicants they had no source of income way back before COVID 19. These group Also has two Sub-groups, there one with paydays there one that is just only Approved.
There fourth group is the group that has continued being Declined since from May and their August status continued to being Declined, Some their August status change from Pending to " referred" which know one knows what does it means and some change from being approved to Declined.
The last group took everyone by surprised, this group their August status was still on Pending all along most of these applicants In this group are the application holders who have received their Grants for May June and July. After they status have been pending for almost two months they status started to change yesterday (24 September 2020) from Pending to Declined with the reason: " Alternative Income Source Identified", which is not correct because nothing has changed for these holders of these Applications in terms of source of income, they are still not working not receiving any Income.
Now it's looks like not a single person will ever receive their September and October Grants.
Therefore, we call for Review from SASSA for all Applications that have been Declined unfairly. We are requesting those who cares for the poor, those who are against all the corruption that had happened on the name of COVID 19 Pandemic to SIGN this petition.
