STOP Haringey Council from Taking Lord Morrison Hall from Afro International!
Afro International has been managing Lord Morrison Hall from 1990 to 2020 (Thirty years). In the middle of lease renewal negotiation, the landlord abruptly submitted an application to the Central London County Court in opposition to the lease renewal and asking the court to throw out the application from Afro International for a new lease. Date of Court Hearing is on Thursday 27th August 2020 at 2:00pm.
Those who use Lord Morrison Hall are mainly from disadvantaged backgrounds including vulnerable elderly, women and children. There will be a loss of vital services in the community should Haringey Council fail to renew the lease. Haringey Council are going back on their commitment to engage all communities in building Tottenham into a vibrant, prosperous and exciting place. The community need Afro International’s lease renewed and Lord Morrison Hall to remain open.
Selling of the property to developers is not the solution to housing. A multi-purpose community centre facility like Lord Morrison Hall in a long-established residential area in Tottenham Wards (including Tottenham Hale, Tottenham Green, Northumberland Park and Seven Sisters) is the correct answer to the future of communal peace and progress in Haringey.
