Urgent action needed to prohibit aerial spraying in our neighbourhoods.
We the undersigned call on the Ministries of Forests and Agriculture and Food to cancel the 2026 plans to aerially spray in Tsawwassen (Beach Grove) and Squamish for the Spongy Moth and to reform the program permanently to Prohibit all aerial spraying over BC communities for the protection of human health and the environment.

The BC Ministries of Forests and Agriculture and Food intend to spray the pesticide Foray 48B over 36 hectares of land in Delta and Squamish this spring. This will be 3 aerial sprays directly overhead extending between April 1 and June 30, 2026.
In 2024, opposition to proposed Foray 48B spraying forced the BC government to back down, protecting residents of West Kelowna from documented impacts of the pesticide. In 2025, the BC government paused the spraying entirely.
But now, the BC Ministry of Agriculture is proposing to spray 36 hectares in Delta, responding to 41 spongy moths that it detected in 2025. A second spray of 121 hectares is also proposed in Squamish.
Residents have until February 28 to provide comments to the Ministry of Agriculture on the proposed Pesticide Use Permit, by emailing Spongy.moth@gov.bc.ca and ENVCIA@gov.bc.ca. You are encouraged to share your views.
